Does everyone have a "cheat day", where you eat whatever you want and disregard all the discipline you normally excercise the other days of the week? Is it a good idea, bad idea?
Mine is today, Sunday. So I had a bag of baked BBQ chips and a diet soda... well half of one. Since quitting them (sodas) for the most part they just really dont taste so good anymore.
I do. But I keep it to one meal and still try to keep the meal under some control. So, today I had one of those yummy sugary protein bars and some fruit snacks, which I don't have over the week. I just decided to do this because I used to give myself a day and I always went overboard, but that's me
I noticed that too about soda. A few months ago I tried to have root beer which was favorite drink for a long time. It just didn't taste the same. It was kind of sad actually.

Same here, if Im going to eat things I typically dont it will be one meal only and its usually nothing too terrible... well ok theres cakes sometimes... but hey they are only 150 calories http://www.bettycrocker.com/products/wa ... lavors.htm
I remember the days of polishing of 3, 4 or more sodas in a day and now I cant even finish 1. I still get cravings for them but if I actually give in and have one, it just really isnt as enjoyable as I was thingking it would be and toss it... which is a good thing I guess as I would say sodas were probably the number 1 cause for the extra weight I used to carry.
I think there's a difference between derailing your progress with a cheat day and keeping your sanity. That's the difference between blowing a couple extra hundred calories for a cheat meal and just maybe having cheese when you don't normally have it or a diet soda. When removing a cheat meal threatens the rest of the week, I don't think it's worth taking it out. If knowing that you can have dark chocolate (in moderation of course) on Sunday or whenever makes it easier to make those better choices during the week, I don't really see a problem with it. As long as the cheat meal keeps you within your caloric goal for the day (if you track calories), then a few extra grams of this or that doesn't seem harmful. That's opinion, I could be wrong.
As for soda, it's weird looking back to when I was younger at birthday parties or at school and the treats were giant 20 oz. cups of soda. Thinking about it now kind of makes me ill, but we never knew better. Now of course health is so much more important. I think just being able to not drink soda when it's sometimes more readily available then water is a big step in making healthier choices.
there's 7 days in a week so 1 day of cheating equals 14% of your week is spent doing the wrong thing
if i cheated you out of 14% of your pay you'd be pretty pissed off...
take is to "schedule" for a lack of better word your cheat meals after a hard training session so you'll actually utilise it...having it on a day off is ridiculous...you don't run a marathon on a rest day and why? because it would stuff up the rest of your training week

I am noticing that cheat days aren't as much fun as they used to be. The last time I had pizza it was like ok it was good but not as good as when I didn't care. I find that even on a so cold cheat day it usually is just one meal for the most part but the rest of the day is new way of eating. I had fried food this past weekend for the 1st time in 4 1/2 months and though it was good in the end I could have done without and ordered something else and been just as happy.
I think it is necessary to have a cheat day just so you can stay on track. I always have mine on the Saturday or Sunday. It just helps me focus during the week and if I do get off course I just remind myself that I can hang in there until the weekend. I'm not always craving things though so at those times I just keep it simple...I love trail mix and a hot chocolate. husband and I also try to have our date nights on the weekend so that our cheats are factored in to that and we can go out and enjoy a yummy dinner and popcorn at a movie! You have to treat yourself every so often because realistically you are going to have fattening food again at some point in your life. If your program is not sustainable you will not be able to stick to it so happy cheating!!
Cheat meals or days, might help, but not for all. Getting it out of your system, is a reason for it, but for some it isn't necessary. I feel it depends on how someones ability to avoid temptation holds up, as to whether they might need one or two slightly ropey meals a week, to get the urge to badly lapse, out of the system.
I usually have pizza once a week. Not always on the same day, but usually on the weekend.
I think cheat days are usually a pretty good idea if you limit the cheat to one meal. It keeps your sanity, and I think there's a metabolic advantage to having one high calorie meal.
thats not bad yeah i think they are sometimes just overdueing isnt good i learned that the hard way thats why i use to be obese now im just chubby not fat or nothing just a little bit of it is there. but i got a question for you Kevsworld aunt every weekend goes out to eat fast food cause she gets hungry and shes getting for overweight by the month is that bad to fast food every weekend cause during the week she eats fatty foods and stuff but doesnt go out to eat cause she works at a meat processing plant.
