Elaborate on what you've been doing. It sounds possibly like to little weight, or too many reps.

I think bossman's on the right track, but I would still question diet some as well. Bet she eats low carb diet with minimal protein and no good fats. Also, I am assuming she buys mainly low fat/no fat products thinking she's eating healthy. No offence sweetie, most of us fall into this way of thinking at one time or another, but I strongly suggest you read the diet and nutrition forum stickies to improve on your diet. If I am wrong, it is said it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Cheers and I hope I didn't offend, but rather that I helped.

Wouldn't lying leg curls solve the inner thigh issue? I do lying leg curls for str workouts and the next day the inner as well as the glutes become sore and tone and for your glutes what about walking dumbbell lunges?

I will agree with you especially dumbbell lunges. The important aspect also is that of diet as I suggested and is she lifting enough. Muscle is meant to work, if she's only doing 10 lb dumbbell squats 3 sets of 10 she's only going through the motions and is she even doing the full range from straight leg to past 90 degrees at the knee. Are the lunges deep? without proper weight or form or diet results are much more difficult to acheive. This is where (yes I'll say it) A trained physical trainer or coach is benificial!

One more note is that overtraining can be detrimental to the results you wish to see also, thus using a trainer or coach helpful yet again. These individuals are teachers in their own respect and there are good and bad ones just like in school but, they are there to show you a way. learn and move on.

Cheers

I don't understand. Can you explain further? Are you saying that if you don't use heavy DBs then it is a waste of time to do lunges or squats? I work out at home and don't have access to heavy weights, but when I do front/reverse lunges or bulgarian squats (I currently only have 5lb DB's), with proper form, thighs and glutes are burning and I can barely walk after a couple sets of each. So I am confused...how can it NOT be helping legs as far as strengthening and toning and burning fat, when I obviously feel the effects of a hard workout?

Okay how many reps are you doing in a set?

The burning sensation in the legs is lactic acid buildup and not necessarily a good thing. The question is not wether you feel the effects from burning legs but do you see a difference in the tape measure.

I'm sorry but 5 or 10 lb squats/lunges are not going to strengthen your muscles if that's what you've been working at for the past several workouts. Strength is the amount of resistence you can move in an exercise. Endurance is the length of time or number of reps you can do for a given exercise. Strength excercises burn more fat over time than endurance excercises. Plus, strength excercises build more muscle than endurance excercise which in the long run will burn more fat even at rest.

To increase strength one needs to increase resistance, its that simple and that hard.

cheers

we all have different abilitites no couybt but there's a huge difference between inducing fatigue (lots of bw lunges etc) and increasing intensity (increasing wt each session)
