flat bench dumbbell presses? Odd results..

Hi I've started working out a few weeks ago and have been doing flat bench dumbbell presses as part of routine. Every time I do this exercise though I feel like I haven't worked out chest at all and really only triceps.

I'm doing them exactly like it shows them being done on this website yet chest never feels sore at all. I thought I needed to simply raise the weight of the dumbbells, but i can't go any higher because of all the burn on triceps. :?:

your a "tricep" bencher which is no problem, you just need to focus actually working the chest so i suggest doing a sets of push ups with your hands on something elevated (db's or push up bars would work) while also doing an isolated tricep exercise immediately prior to your bench presses to fatigue the triceps so you have to bench with your chest...you'll use les wt though but as you go along and your chest fires up you won;t need the pre fatiguing thing

Hand position on the (barbell) determines the amount of triceps/pectorals involvement.

A closer grip will mean more triceps and less pectorals.

A wide grip will mean more pectorals and less triceps.

Dumbbell work is more nearly like close grip benches and will tire your triceps more that a wider grip on the bench with a barbell.

The advantage of DB work is that you can bench deeper (your arms will come lower--effectively moving the barbell lower than the obstruction that is your chest) and you can bench taller (you can push your shoulders off the bench involving your inner pecs more).
