Time to Change

Post by abner80 »

So I'm new here. pics are in the profile 2 from '07, a couple of pics from last month. I'm 170lbs 6ft. I have an obsession with running not jogging like running. Might just be problem in achieving goal. So goal is 185lbs with the same 17-20% fat that I have now. Can someone give me advise on exercises I only have dumb bells to use. I got a 8lbs, 10, 15, 30, 40, 45, 50lbs. I can add on to dumbell collection. As of right now I cut down running to one day a week well I'm going to try. every other day I do strength training, with consists of 100 push ups, 20 pull ups, and 100 squats(no weights), On the opposite days I do 4 sets for biceps, 4 sets for abs. So a typical week would look like M - biceps curls dumb bells 40lbs(8-10reps x 4 sets), situps 50 reps x 4 sets, Tuesday - strength training, W - Chest dumbbell press 50lbs(10 reps x 4 sets), reverse crunches 50 reps x 4 sets, Th - Strength training again same routine, F - Triceps Overhead press 45lbs (8-10 reps) 4 sets, flutter kicks 50x 4 sets. I do change the dumbell exercises for BICEPS, CHEST, and TRICEPS weekly. One very important question what is a cheap food that I need to eat that can be eaten every 2 hours cause I think problem is not eating enough. But I don't know what to eat I eat alot of breads BECAUSE im use to running alot and need the carbs. HELP ME WHAT CAN I DO TO ACHIEVE GOAL 185lbs same build! What should i concentrate on ThANKS in advance. Wife Says I'm skinny

Some good mass-building exercises include squats and variations, dead lifts and variations, pull-ups, chin-ups, bench press and variations. You are already doing some of these, but at high reps. It seems you need to challenge yourself more. Rather than doing curls and triceps extensions, you would be better off going heavier with chin-ups and pull-ups. If possible, you should get a barbell as it would make squats and deads much easier; however, it is better to do SL deads with dumbbells.

You definitely need to eat if you want to remain so active; otherwise, you are going to lose lean mass. Beans are cheap and healthy; so is brown rice, oats and sweet potatoes. Choose these options over bread to keep your bulk clean; otherwise, you may increase your body fat. Make sure you are getting plenty of healthy fats, daily, such as flaxseed, olive oil, , walnuts, almonds, fatty fish and fish oil. .
I have a barbell the long one thou can't use inside house without hitting a wall that was just painted less than a year ago wife would kill me. I can do squats with that in the backyard kinda wierd thou neighbors will wonder what I'm doing I guess! If I run alot less then I should gain weight right. As far as beans thats lima, kidney beans, black eyes peas, bushes baked beans those kind come mainly in the can or should I be getting the ones not in the can. Oats like oatmeal. I don't eat alot of fish but I have fish oil vitamins and daily centrum. Well I'm going to add the squats add chin ups, add the food.
Thanks for the advice.

you seem to have a massive left to right imbalance of your torso from your pictures...your spine is meant to be straight

Which side seems to be stronger? Or weaker for that matter

I would suggst there might be some kind of Scoliosis, but it's one Back picture, where possibly, you were just standing at a slight angle. You'd maybe been standing with a very slight lean in the Torso.

I can't say for certain, you've got some kind of Scoliosis, which is where the Spine tilts as much as 10 degrees left or right.

I'm not seeing it myself. I'm seeing a possible slight tilt in the way he was standing. Especially as some of the other pictures, would indicate something different.

I cannot say 100% it's not Scoliosis, but I can't in mind say it is.
