Yes Boss Man I sure did read it. Very interesting. Hope we will have a cure within 5 yearsBoss Man wrote:Hay Boopster. Not sure if you read post about the Gcmaff Cancer therapy a while back, but regards your wish about Cancer, were your Government to wake up and see the reality under their noses, I think you could have your wish within 5 years from now.
I just depends how quickly they would get their arse into gear.

Both LespleaseLesplease wrote:I did chem research for a bit. I worked under Sherman, one of the leading chemists in the development of cis-platin (not in use much anymore, but at the time was one of the only breast cancer meds). Talk about some amazing people. I've read some of her papers (she is inorganic, by then I was working on inorganics inside of organic systems, specifically magnesium), and I am constantly in awe of the dedication that she had to her work. Amazing stuff, really (:
Boops- do you smoosh boobs because you are trying to do your part for the prevention, or are you more into prevention now that you smoosh? Either way I bet there are a lot of women thanking you...

There has been some who agree with this thought. In the United States, the suggested times for a woman to have a mammogram are as follows:Boss Man wrote:Some poeple would advicate Mammograms, being a radiation based therapy, could actually cause Cancer, but it depends on how often the person would be having it, which might be the basis of such scientific speculation.
Ages 35-40: A baseline or (first) mammogram should be done
Ages 40-50: Every other year unless a strong family history (mother, sister, grandmother)
Age 50 and after: Every year, as chances for breast cancer increase with age.
Personally, I get a mammogram every year. I feel the benefits of detecting breast cancer at early stages, should I ever become diagnosed, far outweigh the risks of the amount of radiation absorbed into body.
When I was studying to become a tech, I vaguely remember our instructor telling us that the anount of radiation given during a routine
x-ray (let's say a chest x-ray for an example) is less exposure than a day in the sun when the body absorbs environmental sources. There is still much debate over this isssue and that's neither here nor there. In gut, I believe the rise in breast cancers and other cancers is due to our consumption of processed foods, the way our country feeds our cows, chickens, and other livestock, farmers spraying with pesticides and our disgusting water. Just opinion though. I have no solid proof or evidence that this may cause the rise in cancers. Below is some information I copied and pasted from The American College of Radiation regarding the risks of radiation exposure:
Risks
There is always a slight chance of cancer from excessive exposure to radiation. However, the benefit of an accurate diagnosis far outweighs the risk.
The effective radiation dose from a mammogram is about 0.7 mSv, which is about the same as the average person receives from background radiation in three months. Federal mammography guidelines require that each unit be checked by a medical physicist every year to ensure that the unit operates correctly. See the Safety page for more information about radiation dose.
False Positive Mammograms. Five percent to 15 percent of screening mammograms require more testing such as additional mammograms or ultrasound. Most of these tests turn out to be normal. If there is an abnormal finding, a follow-up or biopsy may have to be performed. Most of the biopsies confirm that no cancer was present.
It is estimated that a woman who has yearly mammograms between ages 40 and 49 has about a 30 percent chance of having a false-positive mammogram at some point in that decade and about a 7 percent to 8 percent chance of having a breast biopsy within the 10-year period.
Special care is taken during x-ray examinations to use the lowest radiation dose possible while producing the best images for evaluation. National and international radiology protection councils continually review and update the technique standards used by radiology professionals.

Well it isn't always easy to know what can constitute a Cancer risk.
There is something called the Ames test, developed by a Dr Bruce Ames in 1973, which creates exposure of supposedly Cancerous substances, to Salmonella viruses, (don't know why those per se), then the virus is tested for any Carcinogenic reaction.
Although it is supposedly quite accurate, but it isn't completely failsafe.
As for the water problem you eluded to, there are concerns about the water in middle and southern America, causing a risk to young children, the elderly, and people on medications, as some people don't dispose of medicines properly, and put then down sinks and toilets, and then the water has trace medicines in them, possibly things like Anti-depressants, Thyroid meds, Cholesterol meds etc etc, and this supposedly is the cause of some peoples medical side effects / anomelies.
You are quite right to speculate about dietary changes leading to Cancer.
There's also a probable increased risk of Colo-rectal Cancer, because too many obese people don't have enough Colo-rectal function, and create a backlog of faecal waste, that exposes the surrounding tissues to toxins, for longer than should be the case.

One interesting thing some people do to Salmon in fish farms, is dose them with something I think it's called Astaxanthin, which colours their flesh Pink. Then they check it off against a colour chart.
This is done as the flesh retains a grey hue, owing to the lack of Shellfish normally enjoyed in their natural diets.
