Let the games begin.....no more ms fat girl....( blog)

Post by MarielS76 »

I have NEVER in life exercised for longer than a few days... I was a total quitter... always making excuses on why I couldn't work out that day..tired, busy, kids... blah blah blah. Eventually the results of those excuses have reared their ugly head and here I am today 33 yrs old, mother of 2, weighing 206 pounds and looking like I am still pregnant with a deflated ... sad sad sad.

I somewhat began endeavor 2 wks ago and many of you provided suggestions and answered questions and I was all good to go and then I got bronchitis .. figures... I went from 206 to 198 from being so sick that food wasn't exactly staying where it should. I know most of that will come back as body thought I was starving myself... trust me I wasn't trying.

So here I stand today, Tuesday, I took before pictures... I don't think I have ever done something so difficult.. I thought it was bad enough with clothes on, but wow....its worse when its just your undies...lol ..I almost cried but decided that regardless of how embarrassed of those pictures I may be..that is what I have let happen and what I will no longer tolerate.

So tomorrow it begins.. I hope that this will be last attempt..I feel different this time.. I was able to stop drinking soda and it hasn't been as hard as in the past... I am taking that as a sign that this time I am truly ready. I am armed with a gym membership, friends and this site... so I feel truly blessed.

The only thing missing is measurements, but that's cause I couldn't find tape measure..lol ...will pick one up tomorrow. So I think this time I will periodically blog about it on here and ask you guys' feedback on the workout and diet and go from there..... so with that said... I am heading to bed.. have cardio to do in the morning..and then work...

.....wish me luck!

This is why I love this site... YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Thank you so much for all the support...

Cardio this morning was interesting to say the least... I am not much of a morning person, so there were those 5 minutes of batttleling with myself on how I could just do it later tonight after work out and sleep longer, but then I remembered those pictures I took and I was up...

..the humidity here sucks..its super humid in the mornings and since I am still not at 100% with breathing it kind of kicked butt a little.. I didn't go as long as I wanted, but was satisfied that I went at all...

..also discovered.. I totally need some new shoes... shins do not love me right now.... lol ... so a trip to the shoe store for some good sneakers is in order..lol

...also some how can opener grew legs... lol.. i think it might be where the socks go..

thanks again guys..

You shouldn't be embarressed about anything. You decided to take photos of yourself, and decided to make that positive change.

So to me, you should be proud of yourself from the start, and I'm sure that you can do what is necessary to make he changes happen, so I wish you well, and welcome you to the site :).

Lesplease wrote:Ok. I'm missing 1 orange ankle, 1 knee high grey/black/white striped, one pink.light pink striped (wooly) and a black sock. Let me know if you find them with the can opener.

The first day I went to work out, sister dropped me on an elliptical and told me to hold the hr bars. And she sat and watched. She wanted me to do 10 minutes of cardio, some "light" weight training (yeah right...) and round off with another 10 cardio. I made it three minutes. hr was through the roof, like 180 ( target "cardio" being ~156). I stepped it back a little (without stopping completely) and finished up ten minutes.

Over the couple days, I got up to 2 15 minute sessions without nearly giving myself heart failure. I was conditioned within three days -- I could ride a solid 20 minutes at a nice, even pace with hr ~160.

So yes, it's pretty terrible to start, but that part gets over with pretty quick!

Also, good luck finding some shoes! They really do make all the difference! (Plus, how often do you get a LEGITIMATE excuse to go shoe shopping!!) And get some good socks too. Nothing like nice, comfy thick socks to cushion your run then you find out they are too hot to be bothered with! Find something that works for you and your workout will be tons more fun!!
I will definitely keep an eye out for your socks...lol

I went ahead and bought a new can opener, I don't have the patience to look for the other one..lol

I have tried the elliptical and yeah I am about to die after one minute..but it seems to be pretty smooth on the knees so I need to give it more of a chance like you said..

How do you find out what your target hr should be so that you are not going over board.. the charts are always round numbers 20 or 30.. I am 33 so I never know.. I guess...

The shoes are a total must.. I went grocery shopping tonight for more goodies so the shoes will take place tomorrow...lol

The heart burn zone is usually around 60%-70% max HR, but some people say it doesn't really apply. Some would add another 20 onto those figures.

I would be of the opnion, that that range could work, but how well it's not certain.
