Hunger during workouts..

Post by Bonnie »

On weights day, I'm in the gym for1.5 hrs, about 1/3 of the way through, stomach growls & I slow down..so a few months back I started bringing a piece of twelve grain bread with a trace amount of peanut butter & honey & piece of fruit, so Ive enough energy to finish weights...anyone else have this situation ? Btw this is after a breakfast of oatmeal & banana.

if you get hungry during your workout then your breakfast probably isn't big enough...add that other food to your breakfast and see what happens.

Ok will do, though after extensive reading on here & checking the value of foods etc.Im thinking the Canada food guide is limited in its protein consumption also, so their are some diet changes in immediate future, thanks for your reply : )

Hi Bonnie,

First off, I always get hungry after a weights day.
I do drink protein shake to help. Then follow up with some complex carbs for a meal.
Second, I would like to say… 1.5 hours is a long time in the gym for just weights!
Unless you’re doing something else like a bit of cardio or stretching.

I think you’re eating too less for breakfast. Try having some egg whites or some kind of protein in the morning with your oatmeal and banana. After your workout have a nice protein shake to recover your muscle.
That's just input. Hope it helps. :D

So...where does a person find protein shakes ?... workout includes abs & I think they themselves take up 1/2 hr, with cpl mins of cardio tossed in to warm up.I do ab sets btwn the other sets, not one min standin around :) Yes thanks for tip abt food, I'm changing diet to include more of the foods needed for recovery etc.Today on way home from HIIT, think if Id seen someone with healthy food Id of mugged them, was so hungry :| Thanks for reply & suggestions, tc.

You can get it anywhere from grocery, health fitness stores, etc…. Most people like WHEY protein shake. Of course, you should do more research which one is a better brand and worth the price.

Always pack snacks with you. Like almond nuts or mix nuts. String cheese... etc.. Keep in mind.. the more you workout.. the more hungry you will be because you are using a lot of energy so you need to feed your body with GOOD and HEALTHY FOOD! :D Keep up the good job Bonnie!

Try having a light yogurt or banana before your workout. I find that just getting something in body right before I work out really really helps
