Swimming After Work-Out?

Post by kimgohan »

Heart pumping submerged in the water at rest is different than at normal rest. Anybody tries to do this? Of course after a quick shower before jumping the pool. Is there any significance bad or good with this idea? Any comment will be highly appreciated.

I know guys that would steadfastly refuse to swim after working out as it would "wash away" the pump. There is some truth to that notion, but there is nothing negative in terms of strength conditioning or body building that would suggest that you not swim after training.

In warm weather it is a good way to get your body temperature back to normal.

I used to train during lunch break and if I did not go in for a quick swim afterwards I would continue to sweat for an hour afterwards.

Thanks, the reason why also I raise this question because this season (summer at Cali) kids like to swim. but I need to be with them. It's hard for them to swim then go to the daycare rather than day care during work-out then swimming after. I just planning to take a dip probably 30 mins. after quick shower after work-out. Is this is enough to cool down.

Everyone's body is different. If you find that you have stopped sweating then you've probably cooled down enough. 30 minutes in the pool sounds like 20 minutes more than you would normally need to cool off. But like I said, everyone's body is different.

Swimming is the ideal way of cooling down the muscles as well as the body instead of doing warm down exercises do a few lengths and you wont get that achy feeling in your muscles...you may feel toned but not in agony

I workout down the gym 4 days week and always go for a 20min swim straight after , and i've no complaints . It helps me to cool down and relax . Its a great exercise after a workout in the gym
