Good job on you diet Martin. As for the "treats" I wouldn't think they would affect you too much. I would refrain whenever possible but still remember that you are human and its pretty hard to be perfect all the time.
As for the drinking tonight... Just one night of drinking shouldn't harm you too much however you did drink the other night as well and it does start to add up over time. Its your call.
Hows the weight training going?

Last nite i had about 4 cans of beer and some other strong drinks ( i was quite out of it) but, i had about 2 cans the other nite, and this was quite recent in terms to the other nite, but like i said i don't drink often so hopefully it won't affect me much, il update the post above about what ive had for dinner that night.cassiegose wrote:Good job on you diet Martin. Weight training seems to be going well i belive, i spend about 20minutes or so working out, is this enough? Also might try a bit more weight today, you reckon il see some results soon in regards to the faT?
Day 22
Woke up did 40 reverse crunches and normal crunches
breakfast = 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and some wheat thin crackers.
Lunch = 2 slices of toast no butter, with tuna chunks.
20mins of weight training.
Dinner = sort of a curry, rice, with mince pork and some peppers, chilli sauces.
Added on 2 pounds from before so each dumbell has about 6lbs on them.
Now as for protein powder, i am thinking of buying some, however what would be best, should i look for some that are 100% whey protein, and im just thinking how this would fit into diet, on weight training days, would i have some with a glass of milk in the morning? I don't want to overdo it with protein and i don't want to stunt growth, do i need the protein powder? Will it benefit me? Also, if i did buy some, would it matter what flavour i got, or should i get the one id like the most.
Would some of these be good? Is this site trusted?

Sorry, im going a bit out of way here but i will update this post when the day is over, however, i don't think i actually need to lose weight, i mean, isit normal to see your hip bones when laying down, see your ribes and for your shoulder blades at the back to stick out. It's just like all the fat i have is stored at the bottom of stomach and some at the top of legs, but still after 3 weeks no effect, why won't it go?
Also i have a little bit of fat on arms like loose skin, if i continue with the weight training this will go right?

Hi Martin,
That protein looks great. It does not matter what flavor you buy... whichever flavor you prefer is fine. I have been researching this stuff for a very long time and I have never heard anything about protein stunting growth. I'm not sure where you heard that but I honestly would not worry about that at all. You'll want to drink the protein right after workout out as that will get a fast source of protein to your muscles to help them recover. You can just mix it with milk and drink it on down. I usually don't recommend that people replace food with protein powder, however i know that you have a hard time getting enough protein in so if i were you I would also have protein powder on mornings when you aren't able to get eggs (or other solid protein sources) with breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and i believe that it is vital that youre getting a good breakfast with carbs and proteins every morning.
Moving on... Martin I truly do not think you need to lose weight... nor have I ever thought that you need to lose weight. goal for you is to help you put on a bit of muscle and to lose the fat that you are so uncomfortable with. goal is to help you gain lean mass so your arms and hips and shoulders fill out more (with muscle not fat). I understand that you definitely don't want to look like a bodybuilder... however if you were to put on a bit of muslce it would help your arms to fill out and the extra muscle could speed up your metabolism enough to get rid of the stomach fat. Is this what you're going for?
If you do want to gain muscle while losing the fat then yes, the weight training is exactly what you want to do. In fact, if I were you I think primary goal right now would be to really work on getting enough protein and enough calories and really focus on that weight training for a while. If ribs and hip bones were sticking out I think I would really want to put on some muscle. Definitely I wouldn't want to look like a bodybuilding meat head, however I think you could benefit from adding muslce to give you arms, legs, back and chest a more "filled out" appearance. Just thoughts.

So, you reckon it is a good idea for me to buy the protein powder and give it a try? Il order online, hopefully that site is ok as i don't know if it has any stores or where the closest ones would be, hopefully im doing well and should see some results in the near future?
Also, sticking with the weight training 3 times a week, this excercise inparticular http://www.shapefit.com/shoulder-exerci ... esses.html would help back/shoulders right. Found it hard to do today as i added on 2lbs of weight but still managed to do 10-12 reps in 3 sets.
If i stick with it for a bit longer i should see results of gaining muscle over body right? I would like to sort back a bit as i saw back shoulder blades in the mirror earlier it made me feel strange because i never noticed it before and never knew if it was ment to stick out like that.
Just another thing, doing the cardio obviously burns the fat however, what if i end up losing weight on back or an area that wouldn't need it and make me boney and skinny as you can't target fat loss?

Hi Martin,
I'm glad we're on the same page. :) Ok, so lets really focus on building muscle and i honestly believe as you build some muscle the stomach fat will take care of itself. If you've just noticed that youre shoulder blades are sticking out then perhaps you'v lost weight since you started, however you could be losing it faster from other areas and slower from your stomach area. Who knows? Most importantly, we don't want you to lose any WEIGHT.... we want you to put on some lean mass. :)
Yes, do buy that protein powder. To build muscle you are really going to want to focus on getting adequate amounts of protein (as well as carbs and fat). I think the protein powder will help for times when you aren't able to solid protein. That site looks just fine. I'd order it from there.
Keep in mind Martin that building muscle takes time... in fact it has been experience that it often takes longer to build muscle than to lose fat so you'll definitely need to be patient with these changes.
Also, you'll really want to make sure that you're getting an adequate amount of calories. You might be afraid that eating is going to make you fat... Just make sure you eat the right foods (lean proteins, complex carbs, healthy fats... i provided you a complete list earlier in this post) you shouldn't get fat but should be able to put on some lean mass and fill out a bit.
Yes, those seated dumbell presses are great for your shoulders. Good job on adding weight! Keep up the good work and keep adding weight as those exercises continue to get easier.
As for the cardio, yes cardio burns fat and your body is going to let go of that fat however it feels necessary. There is a chance you could lose weight in areas that you don't want necessarily want. If I were you I think i would cut back on the cardio and maybe add another day of weight training in. I should have caught this before but I was so caught up on trying to help you lose the fat that you're worried about that i failed to realize that the rest of your body needs to add mass.
So for your meals.... REALLY REALLY try to get protein with every meal. I know this is difficult but try your hardest. Also, again, don't worry so much about calories, if youre hungry eat. Just make sure you're making healthy food choices. Things like fruits, veggies, proteins, whole grains, nuts, peanut butter, wheat bread, whole grain cereals, tuna, milk, eggs, chicken, whole wheat crackers, fish, and water should be abundant in your diet and don't be afraid to eat these foods. If I were you I would just be careful about eating things with empty calories (soda, alcohol, sugar) and try to make sure you're making healthy food choices.
Does this all make sense?

Yeah it does, it just seems like it's impossible to get rid of the fat, and seems like it will never go away. It just needs to be spreaded out more. If i continue the way im going will i see results? I've learnt alot however it just seems like it's too hard to get rid of the fat. Why oh why can't it goooo
Hopefully will see some progress soon, I'm not too bothered about putting on weight however if i had a choice i wouldn't, as long as i lose the fat and look good.
Also, did you say i should do 1 less day of cardio and an extra weight training day? So 4 days weight training 2 cardio? Is that enough to lose the fat? It's pretty solid skin but it just looks unattractive and like fat. Almost as if i need to be breathing in sort of, im not really good at explaining hope you get the idea though lol.
Just another thing, on the protein powder note, would i be best getting the bannana 1, seeing as it's about 100 grams more and same price, but then again choc prob tastes better. I take it these powders have no side effects and won't cause me any halm?
Thanks again

Hi Martin,
Don't worry about the fat. Lets work on putting on some muscle. If youre just a bit thick in the stomach area I think it won't be as noticable if you put on some muscle on the rest of your body you know? Plus, putting on muscle should speed up the metabolism a bit which could take care of the stomach fat on its own.
Yes, I would do 1 extra day of weights and 1 less day of cardio... Or just do one less day of cardio and take 2 days off each week. Either way, I would cut back on the cardio.
For the protein, i would get whichever flavor you think you would like most. The protein powder has no side effects. I drink it every day. :)

Thanks, however for the protein powder, if 30 grams is like 120 calories with milk it may be about 300 calories or over? Or is it ment to be like this? As long as i still lose the fat.cassiegose wrote:Hi Martin,

Another thing, as i read the first sentence, dont worry about the fat!?!? That was basically the whole point of this routine for over the past few weeks, the main aim was too lose the fat. So that is a must and defintte. It's like i just want it to be as if im breathing in so that it's sucked away. Not sure if it's possible but yeah that's the main aim. I may do 4 days of weight training, or just 3 and have 2 days off, il see how i feel when it comes to the days. However, is 2 days cardio enough, remember im not basically trying to lose weight, just get rid of the fat. It's been quite a while now and coming up to a month, and i don't want to of wasted this time, i hope it has gone to some good use.
Hopefully i can gain a bit of muscle, but like i said the main aim is still to get rid of the fat. Muscle is a bonus really, however the weight training should help me gain muscle hopefully and look better.
Thanks
Day 23
Early in the night, i couldn't sleep as i was hungry, so i went down and ate some wheat thin crackers, hopefully this wouldn't cause harm as there not that high in calories.
Woke up, did 40 crunches and 40 reverse crunches, sets of 20, using a pillow for support.
Breakfast = 2 wheatabix with milk, haven't had for a few days, parents have gone shopping for some more foods.
Lunch = 2 Slices of toast, with peanut butter on, with 4 slices of chicken roll. 1 cookie (65 calories) , 5 ocean sticks/fish sticks/crab sticks. And a yazoo bannana milkshake (200ml) didn't say how many calories but said less than 5% added sugar, low in fat, no artifical colourings or flavourings.
Hope it's good so far, going to do 40minutes of cardio now, will update.
Did 40mins of cardio on stationary bike. Drinking only water and diet cream soda (0 calories).
6pm - dinner = jacket potatos. Leaks, and homemade egg and bacon pie. Egg was boiled bacon was already grilled. Their having desert, i feel like i can't however, im making these commitments but aren't seeing results
It's been a while now, and i don't enjoy the cardio, nor do i sometimes feel like eating the things im eating. However, if i want to look good which i do then i must. However where it has been a while and there hasn't been any improvement in looks, then it doesn't give me much motivation. Will the fat ever go? Am i ment to have it? It just seems like skin which shouldn't be there and should be at other parts of body. Like today i feel tired, back was aching a bit before i went on bike. But i still did the 40mins as i'm not giving up but hope this work is actually paying off because to be honist it doesn't seem like it is at the moment.

Martin,
Didn't you say yesterday that you noticed that your shoulder blade was sticking out in a way that you had never noticed before? If so, this says to me that you ARE losing weight, just not necessarily where you want to be losing it from. You also said that your hip bones and ribs stick out. I don't have a picture of you so can't actually see how you look, however Martin if that is the case it sounds like you really need to put on lean mass and NOT lose weight. When you told me yesterday that your hip bones and ribs are sticking out it kind of alarmed me and I don't feel comfortable advising you to lose weight as it sounds like you truly do not need to lose any.
I realize that the fat on your stomach is bothering you and you would love to have it gone, however as i said yesterday, it sounds like you would benefit greatly from simply putting on some lean mass, which would help your stomach look better. It seems as though you are losing weight right now, however your body is letting it go from other areas before letting it go from the stomach area. I'm afraid that if you continue to lose weight your bones will only begin to stick out even more. This is definitely not what you want is it? You've been at this for almost a month now, and you don't seem to be getting the results you want. Why don't we try a different approach?
As for your meals... breakfast could use some protein.... lunch looks ok... I think i would actually split that lunch into 2 meals and have one between breakfast and lunch, then have the rest of the food for lunch. For instance you could have the toast, peanut butter, and chicken for meal 2, then have the fish sticks and milkshake with lunch. Question.. do your parents not buy vegetables? You seem to rarely eat them so was just curious. Keep in mind that fruits and veggies are a VITAL part of your diet.
For the protein, you can have it with milk or water. Whatever you prefer. If you truly want to put on a bit of muscle you really shouldn't be as worried about the calories too much as long as your getting them from clean foods.
As for not enjoying cardio or the foods your eating.. Join the club friend. I try to think of food as fuel and don't really worry to much about how it tastes. Granted, life might seem more enjoyable when you can spend your days eating cookies and candy. However, I know that cookies and candy don't give me the energy that i need to keep up with busy schedule and those foods aren't good for me and honestly, those foods make me fat. Right now the primary foods in diet are fish, chicken, oatmeal, veggies, and sweetpotoes. Thats about it. Its not always fun and i don't always enjoy the food that i'm eating, however i know that eating these foods is helping me to meet goals and i know that meeting goals gives me confidence and ulimately make me happier... MUCH MUCH MUCH happier than the cookies and candy would ever make me feel. So Martin, it is a sacrifice. Nobody can do this for you. You are the only one who can. I know it stinks sometimes and it gets frustrating. Trust me, I've been through what youre going through. In fact, i'm going through what youre going through RIGHT NOW. However, when you do meet your goals I can promise you that all of your hard work will be worth. Just remember that it takes TIME and it takes PATIENCE! As i've told you before this will not happen over night.

Maybe, so i am considering doing a less day of cardio and perhaps an extra of weight training. However i don't see how this will help the fat of unattractive skin. Also yes parents do buy vegetables, but their mainly used at dinner. Also i am most hungriest when at night time and early morning when i wake up because i haven't eaten tonight at 22:30pm i had a bannana and about 11pm i had like 3 wheat thin crackers, is this alrite to eat where im hungry.cassiegose wrote:Martin,

Also, I'm doubting wether i will ever lose this fat... I used to be fat, and lose weight, i have slimed up however the fat is still there, why didn't it all go with the other weight, why did it stay there? Do i need to tone it up to get rid of it? Because most of it is unattractive skin but it does stick out a little. I just don't know if it will ever go and be completely flat?
Just one more thing Cassie, is it really worth me buying the protein powder? I mean i was going to order but still haven't as some people said it wouldn't benefit me as i don't spend 5/6 hours at the gym a week.
Has the almost past month been a waste of time? Or if i continue the way im going will i see results in possibly the next month?
