I dont want endurance, I WANNA BE FAST(SPRINTING)!!!!!!
is there any thing i can do with weights like barbells and dumbbells that can make me faster!?!?!?
I dont rlly wanna be strong in the legs, like i dont want to build muscle mass cuz i heard that could weigh you down and make u slower so wut do i have to do to have power and speed and agility?!?!?!? do i do rlly fast squats or sumthin????

i dont know who told you that more muscle can weigh u down, because in fact stronger leg muscles makes u faster, if u just lift to get your legs bigger and dont do any running to get your body adjusted to the added muscle than u WILL get slower... id recommend whatever leg exercises you think will help and as for drills.. check this out. i found it on nike and it has helped me get ALOT faster http://www.nike.com/nikegridiron/#sparq_zone
obviously all the drills are not for sprinters but they can really help.. thing is, if u dont have the equipment you will have to buy it... otherwise, just practice sprinting at a track or something

Anoby you're partly right and wrong. Yes extra muscle mass can slow you down, but only if it's too much. If you have a nice amount, you should be fine, and you'll need it, to help you sprint.
You would only get slowed down, if muscle mass was too high, but then you could end up with too high a % as well, again helping to slow you down. So it's important to get that balance between muscle mass, and oversizing.
By the way, it may surprise you, but I saw a WSM competitor once, who was capable of doing 100M in 11 seconds dead. It wasn't actually seen for real on the programme, but it was confirmed, and I'd have no reason to doubt that, seeing as how, there isn't really a strong sprint element to WSM, so he or anyone else would have no reason to lie about it.
Unfortunately it was about 3-4 years ago, and I've forgotten his name, DOH.
He was seen however demonstrating his prowess running barefoot on a beach, and he did look damned fast.
Particularly if he used something like Creatine, although whether he used other "illegal" things, is another issue, and I believe not all do.

sprinters can squat over 3 x their bodyweight most of them so you need to get strong but keeping volume (sets and reps) as well as calories down a tad won't induce bodyweight increases but rather strenbgth increases...basically if you can't squat 1.5 x your bw than stay away from too much speed stuff until you can as the high impact will be tooo much for you and you'll gwt slower and possible injuries
lol, wut a coincidence:i just did 225lb(1.5x weight) 5 times(squating) for the first time in life a few hours ago.hahahswanso5 wrote:sprinters can squat over 3 x their bodyweight most of them so you need to get strong but keeping volume (sets and reps) as well as calories down a tad won't induce bodyweight increases but rather strenbgth increases...basically if you can't squat 1.5 x your bw than stay away from too much speed stuff until you can as the high impact will be tooo much for you and you'll gwt slower and possible injuries
in that case you probably need to work on plyometric stuff while maintaining strength...the vertical jump bible by kelly baggett is excellent and although it's mostly jumping, you will get faster as well otherwise maybe try speed strength ( i think) or something...what do you want the extra pace for??

I'll let the hardcore guys explain the weights and stuff lol. I don't claim to be an expert. However, I know what has helped me as far sprinting is concerned. I use a power fitness chute. It's pretty much a scaled down version of a parachute that you tie around you. With this you can sprint backwards and forwards and eventually you get use to the resistance, so when removing the chute and running, is 'easier' per say. I'll post some more if you want.
