Nooo hand ripped open...
Was on heavy day for sumo deadlifts. I use an alternate hook grip and left hand, the one that has palm facing me, has a weaker grip than right arm because i broke that left wrist twice when i was younger and also has less calluses developed because i played tennis for years and I am a righty. So anywho i ripped a callus open right where the middle finger connects to the hand on this picture (sorry for lack of a better pic, this isnt hand! :p): http://www.rockclimbing.com/images/phot ... e-hand.jpg. It was on last set of 4x5 that this happened. So question is, should i just throw some adhesive tape and continue with plan wednesday, or wait to let it heal? I will definitely get some type of sports chalk for the future though...
I couldn't access that website that you posted. However, medical advice would be to allow the injury to heal before returning to that lift again.
When you do return, ideally use a paper type tape across the area such as Micropore or Leucopore (Aust). Then use padded palm gloves for awhile at least.
Rather than weightlifting gloves, buy cycling gloves (fingerless mitts type) with good padding across the palm, different brands vary with their padding. Also they must be a tight snug fit because they will stretch and twist in use. Hope this helps in what is a frustrating injury.

I say tape it and keep going. As long as you’re not bleeding all over the gym or it doesn’t hurt to bad. Might take a little longer to heal but I would say it beats doing nothing. If a small hand injury is going to keep you out of the gym that’s pretty weak.
Ripping off a callus on your hand is very common happens to me weekly. I can’t say I have ever had one that even hurt. Must have been some serous strain on it for that. I use to use gloves they sure keep your hands allot softer that’s for sure. its all personal preference though.
