Wrong Program?
Hi, I am in the stage of bulking from a skinny stage and I am on Waterbury's TBT training using the sample workout from t-nation. On the 3rd day of each weak the program has me doing sets of 3x15 and on the second day 3x8. question is, what is the purpose of this huge deload, and should I another program such as a good upper/lower split?
in opinion that program is more of an intermediate type program. I would check out stronglifts http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5- ... g-program/ its a good beginning program (similar to starting strength) and free.
*edit diet is HUGE part of gaining weight.. ever heard of GOMAD?

well, i read something from dave tate that you can't go heavy all the time with deadlifts and expect to make progress. i would guess it goes for everything else too. so take the program as it is and finish it. i know i made progress from waterbury's ABBH program.dys wrote:I am finished with week 3, and i am aware diet is key but i also know that low reps + heavy weight = good so I am asking if i should bother with this program because of the high rep scheme.
no programme worth doing will be all one set/rep scheme. keep at it and give it your all, youve only been at it for 3 weeks.dys wrote:I am finished with week 3, and i am aware diet is key but i also know that low reps + heavy weight = good so I am asking if i should bother with this program because of the high rep scheme.
as stated you can't train low reps all the time
also for growth you need higher reps and they help for connective tisuue which is where your strength comes from
a typical case of "the best program is the one you're not doing"
stop doubting it and do all of it

alright thanks. also, as a side question, do you think its worth paying an extra 20$ a month just to have a squat rack instead of smith machine? Its the difference between 2 gyms. As far as training goes i am aware that free bar squatting is significantly better, but is it worth the money? I have only 2 months before i go to college which will have everything i need.
