Interval works as well as anything.
Just go for a low setting if you're not used to if, and then adjust if needs be. It might be wise to use an Exercise Bike perhaps, and if it takes a few sessions to work up to a more challenging but still acceptable level then fine.

Hey Cassie, still alive and kicking, thanks for asking 'bout me 
Actually still slugging appliances for 10 to 16 hours a day by hand, 5 days a week and bouncing fridays and saturdays at the bar. As you could probably understand, no time or energy for the gym or cardio these days, lol.
I'm back up to 250 lbs because of what I'm eating and lack of cardio events.
The only good thing I've seen from the job is I'm still paying the bills, I've put a 1/2 inch on both arms and increased the width of back a bit as well (I can tell by the way shirts fit). legs are stronger and getting more defined as well but are always tight and sore regardless of stretching or anything else. Obviously core is also strengthening as well.
Still would prefer to be in the gym and working towards some powerlifting goals but taking care of needs before wants is the best route from what I've learned, lol.
I passed 1 year no smoking on April 1st and still going strong without craving at all
I hope everyone is setting and breaking their goals and keep looking at all the positives. There are no bad workout days, as long as you get to it, there are no bad diet days as long as you keep working it. Keep switching it up and enjoy what you are doing--- have fun with it!

That stinks that you're having to work so much but atleast youre paying the bills! And, 1 whole year without smoking!?!?!? Great job!
That is great that your arms are getting thicker and legs stronger! Whoop! :) Sometimes the best thing when legs are tight and sore is a nice bout of slower cardio followed by a thorough stretching.

Here is another twist on the treadmill calorie counter. Although I know deep down inside that it is not an accurate reading, I try to use it as a goal, for example if it reads 387 calories burned, then I will keep running to make it say 400, etc. so I use it to push me. And I also have this bad (or maybe good?) habit of continually upping speed gradually as i run. Every .25 mile I will bump it up so I end up racing myself, to try to beat the last time I had for that same distance.
Ever notice that there always seems to be a "favorite" treadmill at the gym? The one you can never get on, because it is always busy? It's the one that gives a calorie burned reading at least 100 calories or more higher than the other treadmills! I guess it is human nature to want to see that higher number regardless of whether is is accurate or not.
I personally prefer the open road or trail to a treadmill anyday, but there are times when it is only option.

Bossman, I seem to ONLY store a lot of fat in stomach and love handles...could it be REALLY stress? I know I ate bad food for at least 6-7 months with very little activity, no regular exercise and zero diet (aside from that)...but can I ever have a flat stomach while being stressed?Boss Man wrote: 6. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and help with muscle growth and repair. Just keep eating that protein that we talked about and you'll be getting enough amino acids.
You can reduce cortisol production by trying not to stress out so much!

I disagree with the idea that you can't lose weight by doing cardio. All life weight has gone up and down and usually when I lost the weight it was cuz i upped cardio. Yes maybe I lost muscle and fat when I did it. But as for own experience, I have lost weight by doing cardio alone without weights.

Maybe, but if the person does weights, a good but not excessive Carido amount and has the requesite diet, barring any physical issues like Thyroid problems for example, there should be the capability to build muscle and burn some Fat

Yeah, I agree, the past few months were definitely the inactivity and a lot of bad eating w/ no proper diet. As far as the digital read out goes even if it is not spot on at last it gives you something to go on. I am sure the cardio numbers on fittracker are not 100% accurate either but we still enter our data. The point being innacurate information is better than no information at all. Or at least it is IMO

Yes you can lose weight with only cardio, you can lose weight with only weights, you can actually lose weight without exersice. Losing weight is 80% diet, first and foremost. But without exercise, or just "cardio" you become 'skinny fat'. Which is what I call people who may be thin but have no endurance or strength. I'd rather be overweight than not be able to play. I like to play. I'll join in the beginner class at karate just so I can do Sumo Wrestling. Today I am headed off to a hotel to swim and do cannon balls into their overly chlorinated pool. The other day I went sledding with the kids. I have gone out with thinner family members to do things like swimming and they are on the beach soaking in cancer because they can't swim anymore. To be healthy, weight, or resistance, training is a must. Besides you will lose weight quicker if you add in 30-40 minutes of weight training 3X a week, add to that 20 minutes of cardio and watch your diet (5-6 meals about 300 calories each) and you will drop weight. As your body can do more, you will want to do more. You will start to feel bummed that it is a rest day. By summer, when you are driving down the road and a mosquitoe bites the back of your arm. You go to itch it and find a muscle that wasn't there before, you will be proud. Heck I ran around showing everyone.

Patty, that has got to be the most profound true statement I have ever read. When I read that I instantly had the vision of all our young kids on spring break out there "laying out on the beach", seeing who can get the best tan, the last thought in their heads is that they are "soaking in cancer", but it is so true. gosh, that needs to be on a billboard on every highway leading to the beach.
