About the Working Out Heart Rate Range
I've got one of those watches that will target the correct heart rate zone; I've been biking for an hour or more a day, 3 x a week, and each time I go out on a ride, heart rate is substantially above the zone--not heart attack range, by any stretch, but not optimal, either. I've been doing this for a month, and I feel really good--like lung capacity is stretching and muscles are working. question is this: how long before I start to see that heart rate come down for this type of activity? I'm not really inclined to go slower in order to target the range; instead, I'm hoping I'll get fit enough to do the same work with a lower heart rate (and then I can go for longer!).
Excuse the lateness of this. If Heart rate did go down, it might be due to adaption of the exercise, meaning you could be losing efficacy.
If it stays within a so-called target range, that is probably more indicative of sustained higher level progress, which you indicated seems to be happening.
So just keep working the way you are, and don't worry about it. Unless you get negative feelings, like pain in the left Arm, Irregular Heartbeats, strange pulsating sensations etc etc, then reassess things, and perhaps consider medical opinion.
