Advice Wanted

Post by GnosisBoy »

I am 14 years old, not knowing height, but I weigh about 140-150. As people have told me, I have a very large stomach. I do not have access to a gym, and every day meal consists of:

Breakfast: Cheerios and Water
Lunch: Tuna Wrap, Fries, and Lemonade at school
Dinner: Whatever mom makes me, like chili, soup, stuff like that

I am asking for advice on what I can do to decrease stomach size...

Firstly to decrease your stomach size you should probably do ab exercises which will help to "suck in" your stomach , it won't look as good as it would if you had a low bf% but the size will be decreased. And for even better results you should do ab exercises and some cardio like 30-45min medium intensity, or for faster results maybe you should do HIIT (high intensity interval training) which means that you walk/jog slowly for 60 seconds and then run as fast as you can for 60 seconds and keep on switching back and forth for 20 minutes. You should also try to eat 5-6meals a day (spaced about 2-3hours apart) which will increase your metabolism and help you lsoe fat. If you do eat 5-6 meals a day then make them all medium sized meals, try to eat as much vegetables as you can (don't only eat vegetables though) and as for calorie counting, some ppl say you should decrease your calorie intake by 500 calories while others ppl (espaicially on this site) say you shouldn't worry about what you eat just as long as you're not eating processed foods.

Last thing, you should also probaby do some strength training just to make sure you don't lose too much muscle, believe me you really don't want that...

P.S. i'm 14 too...

Good luck!!!

jd.. that is very impressive knowledge for being 14, but yes, gnosisboy u should really try to get out there and run for at least 30 minutes, if weather wont permit it, then find alternatives such as jumprope or something... your really gonna have to depend on cardio to lose the fat, because at that age u might not have access to a lot of things that could help speed up the fat burning process

Hmm...so, I have never really formed a plan, which I realize I should be doing, but I am never sure if what I am doing is working or not. Since I do not have a jump rope, would it be equally beneficial to simply jump for thirty minutes at medium intensity? I can also do the ab exercises found here at Shapefit, and the other exercises to make sure I am not losing muscle. Since it is Winter, I cannot ride bike as there is snow everywhere. When it melts, then I can ride bike. Then eating plan, which I cannot control that well. For breakfast, all I have is Cheerios, and so I eat them with water. For lunch, at school I usually get the Chicken Caesar Wrap or the Tuna Wrap, as well as lemonade. For dinner, it is what mom makes me, or some sort of fast food that they have to send in quick. I guess if I can stay away from snacks, it would help. Does this plan sound satisfactory as of now?

P.S. Sorry for posting this in the wrong forum. I didn't see the Teenagers Area.

No i'm pretty sure simply jumping in place won't have teh same results, althought it will have some. This is because when you use a rope you're also exercising your upperbody a little (maybe even abs) but when you simply jump in place you're only exercising the legs... But if your goal is weight loss than maybe it should be ok idk...

yah i know i have ddr too but have you ever noticed how long it takes to burn calories while playing that? I think you burn around 20 cals an hour!!! It's just pointless to play that game as exercise if you don't like it....
