Need some Advice

Post by Jessielynn25 »

hey well i am jessie i love weight lifting i usually lift about 5 times a week about 40 min each time always alternate muscles i have put on about 17 pounds of muscle since jan. i want to lose about 20 more pounds so i recently took calories down to about 1200 is that going to affect muscle growth also i do Cardio for about 45 min to an hour beofre i lift it helps me lift better, but i have had people tell me not to do this. Is there a reason i shouldnt run before i lift? Also i work triceps and i do curls squats and bench press. But i need some workout that work some different muscles for example i can bench press 135 pounds but i can not do a pull up i know i can't do a pull up its pretty embarrassing i have another question too i apologize for ignorance but what is better high weight low reps or low weight high reps ??? anyways any help would be great Thanks for the help Byes

I think you might be confused about gaining 17lbs of muscle in 5 months. I don't even think a female on Steroids could do that. The weight could also be a mixture of Fat and water too.

Yes you will hurt you rmuscle growth and fat loss potential at 1,200 calories. Unless you were shredding for a competition, then don't eat like that. I'd suggest you stick at around 2,100-2,200, which is 1,800 average for sedentary women, and the rest for exercise.

If you're training right, you shouldn't have many problems if any, shifting the fat weight, and bulking a little more on that many calories.

I would go with an incremental reduction in calories instead of this quantum drop.

You have determined your maintenance caloric intake.

Reduce that by 10% and try that for 6 weeks and see what you accomplish.

If you are not satisfied with the results, then go ahead and drop the caloric intake by another 10%.

In opinion a weight loss of more than 1 pound a week while training hard makes for a loss in quality of life matters.

If you drop 200 calories a week you will lose about 1/2 pound a week. In 10 years you will lose 250 pounds--a significant amount of weight.

Realistically, in 10 months you will lose the 20 pounds and you will enjoy your life more. You will be able to train harder and you will sacrifice less muscle mass in the process.
