Getting stronger...but does it show?

Post by sterytyper »

Hi, name is steve and i am 16 years old and i weigh about 125 pounds and 5'7. I have been working out for almost about half a year and i feel a little stronger, though chest never seems to "look" stronger. Like i have small pecs.

How do i make them bigger? Maybe i am not doing the bench press corect or something, or maybe i am not doing enough sets. and also ive been trying to do crunches and i still have a layer of fat around it, does anyone have any reccomendations on what i should do? I was thinking of buying a preotein shake, maybe that will help me out overall?

if anyone can help me out on what i should do, that would be great. Thx guys!

I would say you need to bulk up abit. Weighing in at 9 stone, you probably need to go on a diet which will help you bulk up to about 11-12 stone (160-170 pounds) which would be fine for your height, I wouldn't want to recommend one, but will leave to the guys who know abit more about nutrition to help you.

I think half a year is a short time for this sport. You must do a good diet and train well then wait and see. Because strenght improves very fast then body looks good. One day you show something, your growing speed is very bad then you undertand that there is a problem about your training method, sleep time or diet. Can you add this topic your bench press video than we can see your training and will talk about your mistakes, is it possible.

youngsters like yourself always try and do too much weights in order to build extremely fast muscle for the ladies. It can be a long proces though if diet and rest aren't in check which also is not youngsters strong point. I was your size when I was 18 so I've been there. first serious crack at wts (stuffed around alittle bit in previuos summers) i put on 8kg in about 2 months with crap diet but as I'd just finished school I was sleeping 11 - 12hrs a night cos nothin else to do. I'd do the same full body workout 3/week mon. wed, fri doing Benches, Pull Ups, Seated Row, Pushdown, 100 Rep Benches, 100 Rep Curls and a few others for memory. The point is with proper nutrition and periodisation which I know now I think I could've put on another 3 -5kg in that span. I'm now about 170pds. I would suggest do some research, set up a plan and stick to it no matter what.
