Hello everyone, I'm 18 years old around 6' tall and probably around 190-195lbs. When I was younger i was the wow you eat a lot and gain nothing kid but I'm thinking it finally caught up. The past few months I've noticed some increasing chubbiness on and chest. I love riding mountain bikes and 2-4 times a week I go on 20-25 mile rides that include a good chunk of climbing in the ride. Where I live the weather is really unpredictable so that dictates when i ride most of the time. I don't really have access to any weights at house unless i go out and buy something. But i really don't know what to buy. I have push up bars and thats it. Basically what I'm aiming for is to lose the fat and begin to lean out and get back on the toned side of things. freshmen/sophomore year i managed to keep trip and cut with a 6 pack...but thats hard work it seems. Someone help me out here and give me some advice that i could use in situation. Thanks in advance.

Well I definitely don't/didn't expect it to be easy. But I know it will be a lot more of a challenge this time around than it was a couple years ago.

Do you have a PE class at gym or access to the weight room there? When I was in school they would open the weight room in the early mornings and leave it open after school so kids could go in and lift before or after school started. Do they do this at your school?

Our school doesn't even have a weight room that is all that well equipped, and i don't think it is open outside of the sports teams anyway. I unfortunately got switched to the new local high school junior year. It's so horrible. We don't even have a full set of school sports. Were hardly starting the football team last year. So yeah i'm SoL on that one.

So you do have a weight room but its not very well equipped and youre not sure if you have access to it? (If thats the case... not sure I understood that correctly?) I would check and see if they'll let you lift before or after school. It doesn't necessarily need to be loaded with fancy new equipment. All you really need are a few dumbells and benches and maybe a pull up bar and youll be good to go! :)

If you absolutely don't have access to a gym you could simply buy a few free weights and maybe a pull up bar (they sell some that hang from a doorway for about $25-$50) and use them to build some muscle. If that won't work either, get started doing body weight exercises like pushups, dips, squats, and lunges. If you have a kids park you could go down there and use the jungle gym or monkey bars (I think thats what they call them?) to do some pullups. I often do pullups down at the local elementary school park after school gets out. Its a little odd but it gets the job done. :)

Hope this helps.

Yeah you understood correctly. Drawback to school is I graduate next week even if the gym is open after school :( Anyway, I'm going to try to buy some dumb bells and a pullup bar for sure. I have absolutely no problem jogging or riding bike to the school nearby to do some pull ups anyway, for the longest time i've used laundry detergent buckets as dumb bells!
