How many Calories am I eating??

Post by brad_69 »

K I'm pretty expereinced as far as working out goes as you guys know from me talking on here for a while. problem has always been not being able to put on any weight. Regardless of improvements in definition or lifting capabilities weight barely changes at all so I guess I have to eat more. I work out 3-4 times a week at the gym and 1-2 times at home those being on core/legs with body weight and bosu ball exercises. And I play hockey once a week. I'm about 6'1 and 155-160 lbs. How many calories should I be eating considering I have an absolutely insane metabolism. And heres what I've eaten today am I meeting whatever goal should be?

1 bowl of skim milk oat bran cereal
3 clementines
2 nutrigrain bars
1 granola bar
1 croissant with cut up chicken
1 croissant with 2 peices of ham
3 chicken breasts
which I ate in 4 fahitas with salsa and cheese on whole wheat shells
And will probably have a peanut butter sanwich on white bread later

How many cals is that approx?

I can do a calorie count for you, but it may be helpful to read the food labels of any processed foods and add your calories since that would be more accurate. For those whole foods: 1 serving lean meat ( 1 oz.chicken breast is approx 55-75kcals) depending on the size, 1 serving of fruit (1 piece or 1/2 cup) is approx 60kcals, 1 cup skim milk is 90kcals, 1 veg serving (1/2 cup cooked or 1 cup raw) is approx 25kcals.

Hope that helps.

Lots of em dont have cals on them though... I know the nutrigrains are 140ish and bowl of cereal probably around 250-300. Rest I'm not sure about.

i wouldn't think it's enough if tyour a "hardgainer"...i think you could easily fit in 2 extra protein shakes a day mixed with fruit (bananas probably have the highest cal count i suppose) and 1 - 2 tbsp of fish oil or some other oil

Protein grams/cals carb grams/cals fat grams/cals
powder x 1 sc/40g 30 30 0
1cp full fat milk 10 14 12
banana 3 33 0
fish oil x 1tbsp 0 0 5

cals 172 308 157

total cal's per shake 637 cal's x 2 1300 extra cal's a day...the old shake in the middle of the night is a tried and true method for extra cal's

Processed foods are required by law to provide certain nutrition facts and calorie information is required on the food label.

I've debated trying a protein shake but as of right now I'm pretty broke and any time I mention it to parents they go on about how I'm eating way to much protein and a servings only the size of your palm you dont need any bla blah blah. Yet I dont gain weight so ya probably need more. Maybe once I start working again I'll go on a shake and see what happens, because I just dont have the time and resources to eat enough I guess. Of course I'm soon going to give the 72 oz steak at Lonestar a try so that may help a bit lol.

Focus on getting more calories and the amount of protein you eat will increase. More protein without adequate calories and an efficient workout program will not help you to achieve your goals.
