im not a huge fan of oatmeal. altho i have ate it and can eat it. i add a spoonfull of PB and some cinnamon sugar with it. altho i add own concocktion of the CS. store bought kind has to much sugar so i buy ground cinnamon and put in sugar myself....combine in the bottle before i use on the food...ok anyways...i rather eat cereal for breakfast. i like to have some form of milk and usually only main time is in cereal. either 1% or fat free but everytime i went shopping for cereal, i always compare labels. i finally found a cereal that has something more then just sugar in it and so i tired it and liked it. trying to minamize empty calories. the nutrition facts for this cereal is as fallowed...good or bad?
its called frosted mini wheats little bites chocolate flavor. its made with 100% whole wheat. i compared this to a few of the other flavors and they are all the same thing but this had a couple grams less sugar but the facts go like this...

i figured it is a better filling cereal for breakfast being a lot higher in fiber and protien. seeing that, in others ive seen. its all sugar mainly and 1 or less grams of fiber and protien
I'd actually stick to cheerios if i were you. They have 110 cals per cup, 1-2 grams of sugar, 20-25 grams of carbs, and a couple of grams of protein (thats just off memory so might not be exact). Sooo you could have 2 cups of cheerios compared to one cup of frosted mini wheats and have less sugar. With the frosted mini wheats are you only having 1 cup? One cup of cereal really isn't that much food at all. When I was doing the cheerios Id mix water with vanilla protein powder and use that instead of milk. Worked out well.
i wanna lean more towards 2 cups bc they arnt 'small' like cherios. i also mainly like it becuse its high in fiber. idk how much fiber is in cherios but i know this cereal will fill me enough for a good four hours or so. i eat it around 9-930 and im not hungry or wanting food till about 1. im content till then. altho i know protiens good to get but i rather take fiber to fill me up to last longer. i will have to check out the O's next time i go shopping to compare it.
I just don't care for all the sugar i guess. Yes, it is high in fiber which is good.... however 2 cups would be 24 grams of sugar. That seems like alot to me.
ok i messured it this morning...its a cup...just seems like more bc its bigger pieces then a little cheerio. and its only says serving size is 52 pieces..not in cups.
as for the sugar....its not as sweet as it may sound. i mean it ism but nothing like your biting into pure chocolate like say...cocopuffs...frosted flakes is worse to in terms of sweetness to me. not bc of how many grams of sugar but just how it tastes. i think all the fiber kinda simmers down the sweetness it would seem it should have.
i do tend to eat a lil slower so i fill up faster but the one thing with mini wheats....they go soggy fast in milk. so i know i can just sit and read something as i eat it LOL...but its a really good filler in opinion...im content for a while
I just went through the cereal aisle today at the store, and they have those mini wheats but unfrosted. I think there was only 1g of sugar per serving (same size serving, 50-something mini-wheats).
So if you like that cereal, it might be good to check out the "unfrosted" flavor if you want to decrease the sugar intake.
