Swimmer

Post by Piker »

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this so I took Strength Training... seems to fit best with questions.
Anyways, HI EVERYONE! I'm a swimmer. I swim once a week for an hour or two. I don't swim competitively, but when I go swimming... I do swim. I don't just splash around.
Except for that, I also do some basic bodyweight excercices: once a week I do 3 sets of 15 pull ups, 3 sets of 15 dips, 3 sets of 20 squats. And yes,, I can barely finish the third set for each excercice.
I don't really know why I do these body excercices... I used to do them when I did karate to maintain strength. But I had to stop karate for various reasons and I just kept habit of doing those excercices. They make me feel like daily portion of sports is more "complete" since I only swim once a week.

Okay so here is problem: I'm not really trying to become big and bulky. It's not that I would mind looking bulky, but it's not goal. I just want to look like a guy in shape. I used to feel too embarassed to wear short sleeves a bunch of years ago because I'm the skinny type. Now I don't need to look like a heavyweight bodybuilder but I don't want them to look like a scrawny guy neither. I want to look slightly bigger than you'd expct for a guy of body type and that people would think "that guy is really in shape" when they see me. I know swimming and doing some bodyweight excercices are ok to achieve that but forearms seem to be lacking. Especially left one. You really do notice a difference in size of both forearms: right looks bigger. Strange, since pull ups, dips and swimming are symmetrical, no?
What would you suggest I do against this? I want arms to get a "boost" since they seem to be smaller than they should compared to the rest of body. But main question is: what shall I do for that cursed left forearm that seems to be really smaller than the right one?
I suppose "excercice left more" is a good answer, but I was hoping to get a bit more specific answers. ANd please spare me the "fap with your left hand lol" joke...

Thanks in advance :D

i wouldnt worry too much about your forearms (theyre almost all genetics) chances are if theyre not big then theyre not gonna get that much bigger. everyone has one side of their body bigger than the other. other people dont notice it but you will as you see yourself everyday. are you right handed? as you may subconciously use that hand more often, carrying shopping bags, lifting things etc.

if you wanna bulk up a little you will need to have a good eating/workout plan. what does your daily food intake look like?

i'm not sure if doing something 1/week constitutes you being that but anyway don't weorry about the forearm thing or the arms need to get bigger thing...just because your arms look good doesn't mean you're in shape as your goal suggests

you'll need a more intensive program and possibly double the cal's your on now
