Tricep grip

Post by teppum42 »

Any recommendations on grip or bar vs. rope vs. the bent bar when doing tricep extensions on the machine?

Also, is it important to keep wrists relaxed/flexible or keep them firm during the extension? I seem to be floundering where some days I can lift more than other days, and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

The position of your hands determines whether you are working the inner head, outer head or mildle head of the triceps.

Palms down works the middle (and a bit of the other two also)
Palms inward works the inner head and a bit of the middle.

Ropes allow a full lockout and that will add a peak to the triceps.

The ups and downs are probably due to the quality or amount of rest/recovery you are getting.

the grip will emphasise different muscles as stated but it;s sucha small area the at trying to isolate an already small area doesn't really matter...i'd say use the grip that you can use the most wt on

also keep your wrists locked in a straight line for every lift you do
