I just took pics yesterday. This same thing happened to me over winter. I had some pictures taken around Christmas time and boyfriend finally pulled them off the camera last month. That was all i needed. March 30 I completely revamped diet and nutrition plan...

Speaking of... Isn't it funny how we can going along doing great, eating well, and exercising regularly and then can slowly slip into unhealthy eating habits? Over the winter I was still eating every 2-3 hours, protein with every meal, and working out 6 days a week NO MATTER WHAT... however its funny how having "one little cheat meal" on a friday night can lead to cheat meals EVERY Friday night... and having a bowl of ice cream(which used to be weakness) on a Saturday can lead to a regular Saturday night ice cream ritual.. and eventually ice cream every night, and how (for some people... I have a friend who is going through this right now) skipping one little workout can eventually lead to the habit of skipping workouts regularly. Its funny how these subtle slips can wreak havoc on all of our hard work. A few months ago on this forum somebody had posted something about cheat meals and I remember swanso saying something about "absolutely no cheat meals". At the time I didn't agree with swans... thinking what could one little bowl of fat free ice cream or a slice of pizza hurt every so often? Well after contemplating that, I now FULLY understand where swanso was coming from.... One little bowl of ice cream can so easily lead to one medium size bowl of ice cream... which can lead to one large bowl of ice cream... which can lead to one gallon of ice cream and OMG what have I done!!! Its slipping bit by bit until you eventually have fallen so far off the wagon that you cant even see the darn thing any more.

So... going back to the picture thing... I think this is a great idea and I'm going to start taking pictures monthly NO MATTER WHAT. I think this will keep me accountable, and it will force me to look at myself honestly on a regular basis. Plus, taking regular pictures is great motivation as it allows you to go back in a month and see how far you have or haven't progressed. If you have progressed you know you're doing something right.. and if you haven't you can make the necessary changes.

So sorry to get so far off track on this post.. but yes, I do think everybody should grab their cameras and take a few shots. For some... it will show how the hard work is paying off and for others it will serve as a starting point.

Just thoughts... sorry to ramble....

I would politely disagre with cheats to a point.

Some people say having a strict diet is very difficult, in terms of not splurging or falling of the food wagon. Having one iffy meal during the week, controls their ability in a lot of ways, by getting it out of thier system.

Better for them to do that, than eat strictly for a month or two, then have two days of stupid out of control splurging for example.

It's about mental state for many. If you're going to have a normal meal, then a small Ice Cream with it, just once a week, it can be controlled.

Easiest way is to just buy something like an Ice Cream on a stick, not a whole tub, so you can't eat more Ice Cream, unless you buy it. a Tub like those big rectangular ones, could give you enough Ice Cream for about 6-7 weekly desserts.

Something in a wrapper, won't.

Or perhaps something like a Noodle takeaway, that requires either going to buy takeaway dinner, or a phonecall to a delivery company. Both unusual actions for the strict eater, so not necessarily behaviour to slip into with ease, when it takes effort and thought to do.

Should be easy ways to get that one moment a week, and control it. Also is a good test of emotional resolve and strength. If you want the end results badly enough, a slightly greasy takeaway meal once a week, won't control you, and become 4 or 5 a week, if your discipline is developed like your end results.

Going strict all the time for some is fine, if you think one little "it won't hurt" choice, becomes more and more, and you can't deal with it, but for many that one little choice is manageable, and is a kind of emotional release.

What helps is a large mirror that doesn't wear silk gloves when showing you off, and we have one as soon as you step out of the shower at the gym. I think it's a setup, to make people stare at their full sized naked bodies and I use it to keep track of success every week.

Everytime I step out of the shower, I see a little less fat and a little more muscle

But on the picture thing, yeah....that got me going after seeing one bad one
