I got this from Bodyweightculture.com. This is a video about pull ups and how you should not pull the shoulders down all the way or you can injure your rotator cuff. Trainers at gym say to keep the shoulder blades pinched together. Something to think about. Probably applies to lat pull downs even more then pull ups.

i wouldn't agree with that.
That bottom "pulling the elbows and thus shoulder blades right down and back" hits the lower traps which will take the stress off the rotator cuffs as the main stabiliser of the shoulder
maybe one with weak / inhibited low traps might hurt themselves by doing this but it's probably more from muscle imbalances then the actual exercise
