Same exercise or mix it up during week

Post by a05jwal »

goal is to tone up and lose weight, i've been told compound exercises are the best, so 3x/week I'd like to work major muscles, I am curious though should it be the same one 3x a week for example, if I am working the chest would it be okay to do Pushups on Monday and then maybe on Wednesday do dumbell flyes and friday do dumbell Press. Same question about Biceps - Monday do Seated Dumbell curl, Wed. do Concentration curl and Friday do Hammer curl?

or are you better off doing same exercise 3x/ week?

mixing it up is better than doing the same stuff over a period of time, because after a while it starts to lose its effect (aka the plateau effect), so mix it up as much as possible but keep the intensity high

You can do it different days. You can do different exercises each time. You could do the same routine for 3-4 weeks, trying to increase weights as often as you safely can. Or, you can have 3 different routines that you do each once a week, for 6 weeks or so, increasing weights when you can. There are really countless ways you can do it.
