:D ok, goal is to run a half marathon on oct. 25. this morning i was able to do a 15 min run/walk w/out back being in pain. it's a small start but a start all the same

You can do it!! And something to look forward to is that the more you exercise, the stronger you back will become, the less pain you will get, so make sure you add some strength exercises to your plan.
