Heart Rate Question

Post by a05jwal »

I have heard to burn fat the most your heart rate should be at 75% , if it reaches 85% you are not buring fat but just doing cardiovascular benefits. Is this true, becuase when I run heart rate is at 85% or higher, what is the best for burning fat?

also to find it out is it 220 - age ?

Fat burning happens at both intensities. The percentage of fat burning is higher at lower intensities and carbohydrate burning is greater at higher intensities. The most important factor is total calorie expenditure and creating a calorie deficit is what will cause fat loss.

The 220-age formula is used to find target heart rate at a particular percentage.

you'll burn most the fat after your workout from a raised metabolism and epoc effect if training intensely enough (interval training) but not much any other way cardio wise

But of course you burn fat during the activity as well, just physiologically a given.
