weighted jumprope
I have a question about weighted jump ropes. To be specific, I have a 5 lb weighted jump rope that has the weight equally distributed throughout the tube of the rope. I was just wondering what this jump rope is good for. Is it really good for your shoulders, stamina, and will it rip your arms up if you are already ripped to begin with? Will this jump rope help an advanced weight lifter? Thanks

I've recently taken up jump rope as well, and from what i've read, it's an amazing full-body workout. Works your chest, shoulders, triceps, and calves mostly. But could work efficiently your entire legs, back, and biceps. It of course works as a stabilizer for your core. And what I find appealing is that it improves quickness and foot-eye coordination.
Jump roping will definitely improve your stamina, and is very beneficial to weight lifters. I can tell you from experience is that I do workouts that require short rest timers and I need a lot of stamina so I am spot on the timers at all times, therefore good stamina is required.
Now I don't know if jumping ropes will get your arms ripped, I mean from jumping rope you are working out, so you are losing calories, if you burn the fat off, your arms will be more defined.
I'm assuming if you want stronger arms, you have to also train your arms with weights so you gain the strength from that.

Jump rope is a good cost-effective piece of cardio equipment.
You need an adequate ceiling height to use it.
And, if you are like me, you need to be concerned with shin splints. I am not able to do jump rope for more than a few weeks before the shin splints start in (very painful).
You need about 10' ceiling height to do this also.
A favorite with boxers and martial artists.
