Which nuts are good nuts??

Post by jtheissen »

I've recently started a lower-carb, higher-protein diet. I love nuts, but I don't want to overdo it and I am also confused about which ones are OK.

I have heard that processed nuts are stripped of a lot of nutrition, and have bad fats added to them. Does this include all packaged or brand name nuts?

Help! How much is too much, and what TYPE or BRAND should I be looking for?

(Also - what;s up with peanut butter? Ok? does it have to be 'natural' peanut butter? if so, are there 'natural' brands or does that mean I have to go to a store where they have unprocessed, plain peanuts and grind the stuff myself?)

no salted type nuts but check nutritional value on back...the healthy fats is the total grams of fat minus what ever is labelled (saturated, monounsaturated etc) although trans fats may be hidden as they don't have to labelled on evrything...as for brands I'm in australia so woodn't be the same and I don't eat them anyway...natural peanut butter is an excellent choice so check label also
