I've been on a full body routine for a few months now and i prefer it to the split routine. One thing thats been on mind lately is that, Is the split routine a more efficient way to work out?
Logic being that on full body i only do so much for each muscle group to avoid being too exhausted to finish work out all the way through.
just seems like the split would allow a more intense workout.
any thoughts?
split vs. fullbody

is training 3 days a week or 4 - 5 days a week ore efficient? Is the split routine a more efficient way to work out?
i think you're getting intensity confused with fatigue...you can fatigue a muscle more with isolated, bodypart training but that's nopt intensity...intensity is the amount of wt you're liftingjust seems like the split would allow a more intense workout
in this case you can still heavy wt for each muscle on a full body workout so the intensity is at least the same
overall the int will be higher because with a full body plan you'lll do say 1 chest exercise per day
day 1 - bench
day 2 - db incline
day 3 - dips
now doing these on seperate days will allow you tro use more wt collectively then doing them all on the same day as you're chest muscles will be fresh doing the inclines and dips where they are already under fatigue from the bench presses if doing all on the same day
make sense?
personally i train lower/upper split x 4/week but depends on training time, goals etc...if you're gonna do a split and fill your days up with leg curls, arm curls, tricep extensions and leg extensions then stick with full body
for performance i'd go lower/upper split and base it westide conjugate periodisation
