knee vs bench push ups

Post by kimberchick »

I'm trying to build up the strength to do a regular good form push up. I was doing knee push ups but was told that they only work your arms and I should be doing bench push ups. Then another person told me that knee push ups are better for working up to a regular push up. Does anybody know which one knee or bench is best for building up the strength to doing a regular push up? Thanks!

Do a set of both of them, they will work different aspects of the muscles you are trying to strengthen.

i have clients do them in a power rack type machine so i can lower by small increaments each week...90% of people's weak spot is core and doing form your knee's doesn't tax it very much..i hardly, if ever, go from knees

Thanks I like this idea I've decided to do a couple sets of each using a bench that I can lower incrementally until I can do a regular good form push up Image [/img]

Thanks I'm doing a 100 push up challenge here and I have found the bench push ups more challenging I'm going to get a step I can lower incrementally

i'm not sure what 10o push up goals are good for...

i can do 50 - ish in one go which isn't great really but i don't really care...i can do gymnastic ring push ups with 50kgs strapped to me though for reps, a but better i think
