Can't seem to get the six pack I want

Post by JCmcfee »

Hey guys, first post here with a question concerning abs.

Ok, problem lies in the fact that i can't seem to get a larger six pack; its not really a6 pack, its only some muscles which are defined. I'll outline what I do and then hopefully someone can tell me where I'm going wrong.

I understand that you need to lose fat to gain a six pack, therefore I've cut all junk food from low fat diet, but I reckon I'm not eating the right things. What sort of things should I eat and how much; like red meat and how often.

I usually do 200 sit ups on an medicine ball and 600 side ab crunches daily and I feel the burn and am not overweight. After exercise, i see a good 6 pack, but this goes away in like an hour; its like the muscle isn't maintaining.

Do you guys think I need more situps or do I need to eat more food? Thanks for any tips you can give me.

Ditto what Katie said and as I posted before:

Clean diet, variations of ab work. Hanging leg raises, ball crunches, military weighted leg lifts, reverse crunches, and incline leg lifts. It's the quality of the crunch you do. If your form sucks, you're not going to get results. You need to feel the burn. Slow and proper breathing. You can do 1000 situps a day. Won't do a thing for you without cleaning up what you eat. Wasting your time doing it daily. Abs are a muscle, they need rest.

You are only hitting two areas of your midsection and you oblique exercise needs to be accompannied by a twisting movement, exercise your transverse abs, which lie deep under your abs, plus make sure you exercise the lower back so to avoid muscle imbalance and problems in the future, also do you do lower ab exercises, plus follow the advice of the other guys with concern to your diet.

To get the deep six-pack you want you need to add resistance and reduce the reps. It is like getting large arms. Six hundred curls will not do it. You need to do 5 or 8 curls with a heavy weight.

Try adding resistance to the ab work and reducing the number of reps. I think you will get better results that way.
