Sharp pain while spinning

Post by newone09 »

Today in spin class, about 20 minutes into a 45min session I began feeling a sharp pain that came each time I inhaled. The pain seems like its in the middle of back. As I took deep breaths the pain went away, but when the instructor had us take the intensity up the pain came back immediately. Any ideas what this could be? I just started doing the class last week so this was only the 2nd time I did the class.

Almost sounds like "runner's stitch" to me. How's your breathing while doing the class?

During class I take nice deep breaths and exhale fully, but once the intensity is increased breaths become shallow quick breaths.

As for Runners Stitch, this pain is not in side where runners stitch normally occurs.

Could be a sticth perhaps. Have you begun to exercise this way recently, or have you been doing it for quite some time?

I ask as it might be that the body is finding it a bit tough to cope with the intensity, because it's beyond it's current tolerance threshold, but when you do it more, if the body should, (touchwood), adapt, the sensations could subside to the point where they stop in the near future.

If you've been getting this issue several times, as opposed to the first 2-3 times, it might indicate something else.
