Gaining Weight!

Post by hellrazr »

Ok people, I'm having trouble gaining weight! I'm 5'11" tall and I weigh 170.
A quick history: I used to weigh 200 pounds 4 months ago. Ive lost 30 pounds and doubled weight lifting strength in just about every excercise since then. I can do chin up's and pull up's, I do squats and dead lifts. Not to mention, I'm eating ALOTTTT everyday, I'm eating twice as much as I used to when I was 200 pounds, (except I eat helathy now, low fat, high protein) but I still am not gaining weight.

By the way, I stopped doing cardio when I lost the 30 pounds, I dont want to lose all fat and turn into one of those starved college kids. I work out usually 3-4 days a week for 45 minutes.

Should I be gaining a pound or two every week to be making progress??
strength is going up and I am training heavy. All excercises consist of about 6 reps with anywhere from 4-6 sets each. So basically I lift very heavy.

You're not going to look like a starved dude, if you weigh 170lbs, lifts are going up, and Fat's going down.

That looks all good. In time Fat % will plateau and lifts should still go up touch wood. For your height and weight you probably don't look like a pencil, so don't sweat it.

Give it time, and see what's occuring in another 3-4 months.

You know its funny that Im complaining about not being able to gain weight... I would've NEVER thought that would happen to me LOL.

Anyways, I'm gonna give it time obviously, but should I be gaining a few pounds Every month to consider that Im making progress? I understand that body fat might be going down while im gaining muscle but I havn't seen much more ab definition then when I lost all the weight and stopped doing cardio so I doubt anything drastic has happened in terms of that.

ok so ill up food intake as much as I can...

one more thing.. i get mens health magazine.. and in it was an article on football players on the off season and how they bulk up.. they talk about drinking juice and gatorade which adds calories which equals muscle growth... what do you guys think??
