meal replacement as in having a smoothie or something instead of a proper meal? if so then no, its not a good idea. if you are eating good nutritious food and also exercising regularly you will lose weight. whats your diet and exercise plan look like?

Hi there,

I never have understood why people do the whole meal replacement thing instead of just adopting a healthy diet. If I were you, I would definitely stick to real food whenever possible. By sticking to lean proteins, veggies, whole grains, fruits, and healthy fats you will be more likely to maintain a balanced diet, you will be able to actually EAT instead of having to drink your meals, and you will be more likely to abopt that way of healthy eating as a lifestyle instead of a temporary change. Drinking a meal replacement shake for every meal is not adopting a healthy lifestyle and is not something that you will be able to maintain for an extended time. I know people who have done the Slim Fast thing and every one of them honestly didn't last more than a few weeks. Its just not a realistic plan to be maintain for an extended amount of time. Plus, humans are meant to EAT! Lastly, coworker takes meal replacements for a couple of meals a day and i was recently looking over the nutrition info.... One shake has 38 grams of sugar, 44 grams of carbs, 10 grams of protein, and only 2 grams of fat. I can't remember how much fiber it has but im assuming only a couple grams. This is crap. That is WAY too much sugar and not enough protein and fiber. A person might as well be drinking a milk shake 3 times day.

Honestly... If you really want to lose weight your best bet is to stick to lean proteins, whole grains, veggies, fruits, and healthy fats while doing weights atleast 3 days and cardio 2-3 days a week.

Hope this helps. :)
