Ok, so on job we have been have doing a weight loss contest since the first of the year. Today I asked someone in the contest how much they had lost in the 4 weeks. Their response was 16 lbs. The person said they have been exercising and eating better, but some people only eat better, and don't workout. question is how are they doing it? I figure they have to be starving themselves. I have lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks, but how can I win when people are losing at rates such as 16 lbs in 4 weeks?
I eat 6 meals a day and workout 5 times a week, but I am only managing 1 to 2 lbs a week, which is fine with me, but come one 16lbs!
I agree that it sounds kinda unhealthy. But if you are doing it right then maybe you have less to lose then the ones who are losing more. The fatter you are, the more you generally lose a week. have you never seen fit club? Some of those lose 10lbs a week!!!!!
Also 1-2 lbs a week is the recommended healthy amount to lose a week so you are more likely to keep it off if it means you are doing it healthily.
Yeah some of the people are very big and some not so big. it sounds like I am not the only one thinking its unhealthy. I will continue 1 to 2 lbs lost/week and see who still has the wait off come 6 months from now
Stick with what your doing. You have a much better chance of keeping the weight off vs. those that are dropping it off much quicker. Try not to compare yourself to others and don't be a slave to the scale. I am not a big fan of these contests because they motivation is a scale. Now I'm all for motivation but you have to keep in mind that with continued weight training your body will be adding more muscle. I weigh more now than pre-exercise, however, total body fat is much lower, hence more of body is muscle. As far as "beating" the others, think of it this way....in the end if another person wins the contest, but you are able to keep your weight off and continue for healthy lifestyle, you are a major winner in eyes. Keep op the great work...you are doing just fine
