Hey everyone. name is RJ and i just signed up for the forum. I am in need of a solid, time friendly workout routine to tone up and gain some strength. I am 23 years old, have a 21 month old son and work in marketing & finance. I am 5'9 and about 183 pounds. I have worked out on and off over the past few years but have not had a good routine since high school. I was up to 230 pounds senior year but never had the definition i wanted to or strength i should have had for someone that size.
I am the slimmest i have ever been, i have pretty strong abs but can't quite see them yet. I wear a 33 pant size and i believe suit jacket is a 40 regular.
goals are to start eating better, both as a diet as well to have more energy and better body. To have a basic workout routine i can do at home to tone up abs, and build strength and define upper body. For legs / cardio i will begin riding bike and i play basketball on a weekly basis. Also, i have the "perfect push up" which i enjoy using.
I tried to give as much information as possible... Any guidance and advice is greatly appreciated.

1 - if you main goal is to eat better then do just that...go to diet section and read "read before posting.." for more on that
2 - what constitutes strong abs? and who cares if you can see them or not? as long as your not fat i don't really see a need, not a priority anyway
3 - what equipment do you to use? amount of wts etc??
in the meantime search "the waterbury method" by chad waterbury and see if that fits the above
4 - legs need wts not cardio...no leg training then you'll struggle for any noticable improvements in any of your goals
5 - what's wrong with regular push ups? they were good for the 1st 10,0000yrs they were around...

i have always had the ability to do extensive ab workouts. its not a priority, but would be nice to go along with it. nothing really as far as equipment at home(always went to a gym before). i notice a much better burn and work out using the perfect push up over regular push ups.
I will read over the diet section and search the waterbury method.
Thanks for the input
