There is not magic answer
Don't keep it in the house.
Eat properly and don't let yourself get hungry.
Drink plenty of water.
Will power is the answer. Walk away. Think about it.
Once a week or so allow yourself to have a cheat meal. If you know you have that to look forward to it makes the rest of the resisting easier.

Last year around Christmas time I was watching a reality tv show and they gave a tip that might help..You pick one day where you indulge your biggest craving and you can eat a nice portion of it on this one day. The rest of your diet goes the way it normally would...That way you're indulging in whatever you really like..and you can burn it off the next day with cardio :)

Well there might be a "magic answer" if your cravings are a result of "insulin bounce" (sometimes called "insulin rebound").

This is the premise for the South Beach Diet.

If your insulin production is not particularly well-metered you might have this condition.

In this condition if you take something with a high glycemic index like an Oreo Cookie, your body will then make a request for some additional insulin to digest the sweets. If your body makes a bit too much insulin then you will crave some additional sweets to address the excess insulin. Invariably you will take in too much sweets and this will trigger another call for more insulin production. Etc., etc., etc.

The way to tell if this is happening to you is to spend 2 to 3 days on a low glycemic diet. If it eliminates the cravings after 2 or 3 days you then know that you want to avoid high glycemic index foods.

If you Google "glycemic food list" you will get lists of foods based on their glycemic index. Eat only the foods from the bottom half of the list.

Some high glycemic foods you will have to avoid: Candies, cakes, pasta, potatos, breads, and many fruits, etc.

Some low glycemic foods you will be able to eat are all meats, poultry and fish, nuts, veggies, etc.

Pizza, I'm afraid, will never make the "acceptable" list.

South Beach is a pretty decent diet to follow..It works when I do it BUT the thing is, it's a life long change..you have to eat that way for the rest of your life..which is fine because it's a healthy way of eating..but if you don't..you gain it all back...

Sometimes TV shows help too..Has anyone the commercials for the Diettribe one on lifetime? The first episode starts tonight and it looks pretty good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv3OqEhpQls

The best thing for cravings is sugarfree bubble-gum. It works for me. Great for sudden cravings. But i would'nt recommend this is you are in in a huge dinner.
