Hello, I'm sure there is already a post about losing the weight after having a baby, but I was hoping I could get some advice about situation. i had a baby 3 months ago (stopped nursing after 2 months due to work schedule) and I haven't lost the weight as quickly as I wanted. I am now 20lbs more then before I got pregnant and nothing is working. I am in the military so I work out 5 days a week for about an hour. I run several miles and do lots of push ups, situps, etc. On the weekends we are a very active family, I don't usually spend anytime sitting around watching TV. I have been using fittracker for about 6 weeks now and I have logging in food consumption and exercise and most days I am about 200-300 calories below what I burn up. However, I have not lost a single pound. I have always been a thin person and have never had a problem with weight. Did body change that much that I should just except new size? I am 5'10 and 170lbs. I was 150 when I got pregnant and I would like to be in the 140s again. With the PT that I am required to do in the military I didn't think that would be such a hard goal, so I don't understand why I am still 170.
I also tried taking Hydroxycut to shed some of the weight and it just upset stomach. I would be willing to try another supplement, but only if someone else had a good experience with it. They cost too much to keep trying new ones and not have them work at all.

I don't see a lot wrong with how you're eating, though a few things could be addressed.
Hydroxycut is probably what could be causing the issue. If it's affecting your Metabolism, (and it probably will), then don't use it. You're forcing your body to do things in a way it's not setup to do.
I mean if you have a Computer with a 2mb Broadband, you can't make your internet work faster, not without tampering with your electronics somehow, and possibly risking harm to your machine or your safety.
If you use a stimulant that affects Metabolism, you're making the body try to exceed it's current Metabolic perfmormance levels, and that is going to reap negative rewards almost certainly.
I would say as an experiment, don't do anything to your diet for now, and give up the Hydroxycut cold turkey, because if you make diet alterations instead, any potential effects will be interfered with possibly by Hydroxycut, possibly making their effectiveness look less effective.
So I'd give yourself about 5-7 days off it, to see how the body responds then make adjustments accordingly.
5-7 days should be long enough to see some kind of weight fluctuation. Just make sure you take that next weight reading the SAME time, as last time, to keep your weighing habits consistent and the readings more or less consistent.

Thanks for the info. I do eat a lot of packaged foods because I have to pack breakfast and lunch and take it to work. I am trying to get more fresh veggies, however I live on an island and there isn't a huge variety of fresh fruits and veggies and the ones they do have go bad pretty quickly, so I had to compromise. The workout information that I added to profile isn't exactly what I do, but it seems to fit the best. We do lots of calisthenics for organized PT and run as well. Push ups and sit ups are what I focus on the most, because I do have to take a PT test and I am not very good at them. I get self PT time which is when I try and focus on doing exercise to shape body. I started jump roping and doing various exercises to better PT scores and shape up certain areas. I can feel that I am getting stronger, however I still have a lot of fat on body.
I gave up the hydroxycut about a week or so ago. I don't really like to take supplements because I am not good at taking pills regularly (hence the reason I have a baby

Oh I agree..the tests are very dumb and I don't think that the regular PT we do helps achieve a healthy lifestyle, except for the running. But, on the flipside, I am very happy to have a job that does support working out and encourages health and fitness to its employees. Who else has a job that dedicates two hours a day to working out?
You got great advice above already, but I just wanted to add to be patient. Some women's bodies just take longer to get back to pre pregnency weight than others. Everyone is different. Your body just went through a huge event. Try not to worry too much about it. You WILL get back to where you want in time.
I aee with cutting out the processed foods and of course drink lots of water. But can i add, as a nurse so hopefully know what im talking about, the advice we are told to give to new mothers is to take the time it took to carry your child to get back to normal. So you're only 3 months in, you have another 6 months to go yet. Just enjoy your baby and do what you are doing. But please cut out the processed foods and anything unnatural.
