Strange Long Lasting Ache

Post by Atticus »

Well due to a lot of stuff going on, I haven't been to the gym in 15 days. But then finally on Thurs I went, and I felt the ache the next day... and the next... and the next... and today.

So it's 4 days of the ache. I'm going to say that's bad? How do I prevent over working?

If you miss two weeks of working out, you need to start back with a light workout to minimize after workout aches.

A light workout on top of the aches will accelerate the healing process as it will pump blood into the aching muscles.

Use a light weight and fewer-than-normal number of sets. Use your usually number of reps.

You will probably need to use the light workout for a week before resuming your old training program.

Stretch

Post by BigChris »

Stretching. Stretching is the key to keeping yourself loose. If you feel as if your muscles are over worked it is better to stretch and try to keep the muscles loose. Not stretching can actually cause your muscles to tighten up even more.

The key is to stretch and keep loose.

I wish you the best of luck in your workout journey!

May I suggest Glutamine. It really really helps your muscle restoration. Try taking a bath with Epsom Salt in the water. I take Glutamine every day, it is awesome. Oh, and I agree with all the above statements, they are all accurate!

Oh, and just because you are sore does NOT mean you are over working, and being sore does NOT mean you did something wrong or "bad".

BigChris,

I don't stretch.. at all. Probably why I can barely reach the middle of back. I guess I should start doing that. Didn't realize that it could help so much. Thank you.

azz,

I may check into Glutamine, and I'm not sure about the bath with the salt. Hahaha. But however I hope it's true that I'm not doing anything bad or "overworking" muscles. Since I really don't like to do low amounts of weight than what I'm used to. Since it tends to get a little boring, and takes way too long.

A long hot shower can be helpful as it will draw blood to the area and can make a sore muscle feel better.

Indeed a long hot shower and a good night's sleep is curative for almost anything that happens to you (except, perhaps, divorce).
