I eat a lot of veggies thru the day but the stuff that yields the most nutritional value (broccoli, zucchini ect).. I steam or boil for a couple minutes before I eat them. Am I losing anything when I steam/boil? Some of the stuff is just unbearable to eat often without steaming.
You'd lose a bit in many cases. Fat, Protein and Carbs can be reduced by heating, but Steaming is a good cooking choice. Although it sweats off a bnit of mositure, it helps retain a bit more nutrition than probably most other forms of cooking.
For veggies and fish, steaming is best next to raw. For fattier meats grilling is the best option as the fat drips away or is burnt off, rather than dish or pan baking/frying where it sits in its own fat.

Are you referring to the carbon dioxide or monoxide that it releases? (i think thats right)... grilling without wood or charcoal and you are really missing out on some GREAT flavor!
concern about the constant ingestion of raw foods is that by heating any type of food you are killing any type of bacteria that may be in the product and if you consume these bacterias you might get seriously ill. advice...stick to the steaming.
