Overtraining

Post by viglen »

Been a huge fan of the website for a long time, however login has always been an issue.

Hope everybody's doing well.

Basically issue at the moment is I've been going to the gym for 5 days a week for 2.5 consecutive months, I may have missed a day or two every now and then however I've tried to be as strict as I could be.

issue at the moment is, recovery time has definately been lagging. I've tried to increase sleeping periods, and regulate eating however it hasnt made an effect.

After reading the article " Overtraining Issues" :http://www.shapefit.com/overtraining-ex ... -much.html. I've realized alot of it applies to me.

So Basically, I'm thinking of taking it easy in terms of weights and let body relax for the next 2 weeks. Would it be hampering progress if I spent the following two weeks just doing Cardio and Abs? I'm looking to improve stamina in this time, rather than continue on with regime which is obviously not working well for me.

I do hope that made sense, if not...then sorry and fling your poo in general direction.

ya if u feel like your overtraining right now it might be best to take a week off....doing cardio a few times during that week shouldnt hurt anything just keep the intensity down...and as for working abs...if your giving your muscles a break why work abs? doing tons of situps wont give ya a ripped up 6 pack...thats all diet and low body fat...u cant spot reduct...

a week off with maybe 3 moderate cardio sessions would be fine. Re-evaluate your program so you are doing a different routine, full body, 3x per week, ie push-ups day 1, incline DB press day 2, and flat bench press on day 3. Do the cardio on the inbetween days and take one day off. Use HIIT for cardio.

Cheers

stay with wts 3/week but w/ eay wt and low sets/reps..you won't decrease your time too much in 2 weeks anyway, that's more a long term thing

maybe post your program, eating, goals, where you started, where you are now etc
