5x5 VS 3x12
I've been doing the 3x12 for about a month and a half now, and I'm not feeling anything the next day like I used to. I'm thinking of going to 5x5 now, but I was wondering if I should use the same wgt for all 5x5, or if I should increase the wgt after each set? Also, does doing the 5x5 still help with fat loss and toning as well as building strength?
alot of people just pick a weight they are comfortable with and do their rep scheme...failing to realize that the number of reps recommended for that scheme is actually supposed to be the rep number that you fail at or come close to failing at... if your doing 3x12....and on your first set you do 12 but could have easily pushed out 3 more...you need to up the weight...so on your 5x5...if on your first set you fail on your fifth rep or you know u wont get six...then u definitely dont need to up the weight because then you wont be getting your 5...
resistance training should be used to building strength and muscle size...BUT it can definitely help with fat loss because youll burn calories for up to 48 hours after your workout....and i guess that if you have bigger muscles youll look bigger but for losing fat and toning thats all about eating better...check out the nutrition section of this forum
