I am not convinced everyone needs a trainer or coach. Reading does alot and utilizing other's knowledge on sites like this should be enough for the average person. I've tried a PT once and it was a waste of time. He beleaved hours of cardio and 20-30 rep ranges were the only way to loose inches and never once did he mention diet. He did come "highly" recommended. Bah! No offence meant to any of the PT's on here but he did not strike confidence within me for him nor has any of the other PT's I have seen in gym that work for the gym or that are private ones.
Sorry
Cheers

No apology necessary vamp. However, you can also use that train of thought with anything in life. Working in the medical field, I come across physican's I wouldn't trust with worst enemy let alone a human being, however, some patient's choose to stick with them because that's their choice. I believe it all comes down to what goal you are trying to reach. If it's a gereral getting in shape and overall feel better about yourself, surely it can be done without a trainer. I did it for many years. However, training for something very specific in nature, I believe requires a professional's help.vamp wrote:I am not convinced everyone needs a trainer or coach. It sucks that you had a bad experience with one. But one bad apple doesn't make it a waste of time. I'm in no way saying that is what you were implying. However, after the results I gained from hiring one, I discovered, I was doing many things wrong that I thought were healthy when quite franlky were quite the opposite. I think finding a reputable trainer and speaking to former clients is of utmost importance. I did a lot of research finding a good one in area and although working out without one can lead one to excellent results, a newbie may find researching material on one's own time a bit daunting. This of course is just from own personal experience.
