Hey all i am new to this Forum but not new to exercising...
i had a baby about 18 months ago and yes i still have some baby weight to get off. When i went to deliver baby i weighed 212. i am now down to about 160 to 162. goes up and down i am assuming it is because i am a woman... I was doing the treadmill everyday for 3 miles at a 4.0 speed and a 2 incline... i have gotten better and can almost run a 10 min mile. but cant seem to do more than one mile and i want to get off...i can not seem to make myself do the treadmill like i was doing i guess becuase i seen the results of 20 pound loss and cant seem to make myself take off the rest of the weight... husband also wants to lose weight as well. he needs to take off about 50 pounds... with the diet and exercise the 1st week he took off 10 pounds... We both watch what we eat. try to eat all chicken and turkey with the ocasional steak... but we try to get it really lean...
we own a treadmill and a Pro form Fusion 6.5 lx. so we have the equipment to accomplish the weight loss we just need some sugestions on what would be a great plan to start with... any sugestions are welcome.
newbie, Need sugestions for me and husband...

Hi there, glad to see you both aiming for the same goal and by going to a healthier lifestyle your new child will learn it as well. Great for you two!
Well, I would suggest you two read the diet and nutrition forum sticky "read this before posting"- there is invaluable information in there you both can use.
as for excercise.....
weight lifting is excellent, the waterbury method by chad waterbury would be a good program to start on for you both. (muscle burns fat so putting on muscle for strength, increasing the metabolism and getting some curves and cuts on your body is a smart thing to do 3 times a week)
cardio, 2-3 times a week on HIIT type work is great for fat burning. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. So instead of going for long, boring, steady paced treadmill runs you'll be done in 3/4 hour and feeling great from a good hard workout. An example is this.....
2 min easy warm up
1 min hard as you can
2 min easy pace
(repeat 5 times)
5 minutes easy pace
15 minutes moderate pace
cool down 2-3 minutes
stretch
You can take this type of work into a pool, on any cardio machine or to the streets or track outside and it works great.
Cheers
