Question about Women and muscle growth
girlfriend is starting to workout with me and I had a few questions. Does she need to use a different workout plan than me? Obviously weights will be different. I am more so talking about sets and reps. If she followed along with what I am doing would she get largy ugly muscles or would it have a tightening and sliming effect in a woman? For example, some of the legs and arms are already a little on the bigger side but I think it is body fat. Would they grow bigger than they are now or would they get thinner? I am pretty sure that I had read somewhere before that women wont get mass unless they use steroids. I just wanted to check.
basically the same but if she has different goals then parts of it may be different
chicks can't get more muscles then males naturally although she will gain some from the initital stres from lifting things heavier than a handbag...this will help ramp metabolism up abd coupled with a decent diet, she'll be on her way

Training for men and women does not need to be different b ecause of gender. It may need to be different because of different goals. If she hasnt lifted for a while she may notice a little growth at first, but don't let that scare her. She won't continue to grow unless she eats excess calories and takes supplements.
Re: Question about Women and muscle growth
Your girlfriend will NEVER get large ugly muscles. Of course that depends on what you consider large and ugly as opposed to toned and defined. Women are not programmed to get big and bulky like men do without the help of supplements and steroids. Personally, I spent the last year training for a figure competition in which I needed to gain 10-12 pounds of muscle. I am 5'8" and have a tendency to be on the lean side, but the downfall to that is I have difficulty gaining mass. After 8 months of varying diet and supplements and a workout program with a trainer, I got the results I expected and it was clearly visable in before and after pictures. It's a fine balance but anything can be obtained with hard work and a realistic goal.com34x wrote: girlfriend is starting to workout with me and I had a few questions.
