You are correct that cardio does play a factor in fat loss. However... you are incorrect in thinking that excessive amounts of cardio is the key to weight loss. This is a very common misconception... one that i have also struggled with for a long time. The key to weight loss is a balance of weight training, cardio, and probably most importantly... diet. You can do cardio until you are blue in the face but if you don't have a healthy diet and solid weight training routine i'm afraid you won't have much sucess.
Are you doing weights 6 days a week? Not sure if I read that correctly. If so I would suggest cutting that back to 3 days a week with a full 24 hours of rest between workouts to allow time for your body to recover and rebuild after each workout.
