Heart Rate

Post by beetle73 »

What is a good heart rate to shoot for on a typical workout?

look up your age on a target heart rate chart and check. It depends on age.

After making the post I found the chart you are refering to. I appreciate your reply though. The main reason I had asked the question was I do have heart problems as I received a stint at the age 49. Dr. encourages a good cardio workout with the assistance of weights. I enjoy this forum as I have read many posts and there are no bull replies to the questions asked. I workout 6 days a week from 45minutes to an hour and a half using weights and a stationary bicycle to increase heart rate. Keep up the good work to all and I will ask other questions from time to time. Thanks

so im only 17, it says heart rate, i think at the gym on the trainer says should be 153? or 162 something like that. Anyways if HR seems to be well above that at like 180 sometimes is it really something to worry about? Not like im not in shape, jus worried me other day cause pushed myself so hard on pullups that i almost fainted! i like went dizzy for a few seconds...weird. Just never happens on the trainer....?

Hey you need to breath when you excercise, exhale and inhale on purpose in rythem with your lifts. ie as you pull up exhale and as you lower your body inhale. Stop holding your breath.

2ndly find a chart that gives you a range for your target heart range. It shouldn't be just one number.

Cheers

go on percieved exertion...if you think you can go harder then do so...if you're dizzy stop..if marathon runners stayed in their hr zones they'd never break a sweat

To work out your max HR, take 220-age.

Now you can use this number to work out you % HR you want to train at. This is called you intensity and is refer to as %HRmax.

The intensity you train at is determined by your current fitness level and the aim of your session. And by the reason you are training.

What are you trying to achieve, and I can give an idea as to what intensity you should be training at?
