Is this workout plan balanced?

Post by synthysis »

I weigh about 255 and I've just started weights. So far, I've only gotten through Day 1. Hopefully, before Day 2, I could get some advice. You'll see that I didn't write anything next to squats. That's because I'm not exactly sure how they're done without weights and how much to do. I also walk for one hour each morning at about 3mph. That said, is this plan balanced? I'm looking to lose 100 lbs over a year as efficiently as possible. Yes, I do diet (1500 calories a day of vegetarian food, as I am one).

Day 1, 3, 5:

Light cardio warm-up (Walking 3mph @ 5min)
Chest: Dumbbell Chest Flies (5 lbs, 2 sets @ 16 reps)
Hamstrings: Leg curls (30 lbs, 2 sets @ 16 reps)
Back: Dumbbell Pullovers (5 lbs, 2 sets @ 16 reps)
Abdominal: Sit ups (2 sets @ 16 reps)
Intense Cardio (Running 6mph @ 10 min)

Days 2, 4, 6:

Light cardio warm-up (Walking 3mph @ 5min)
Shoulders: Front, Side Dumbbell Raises (1 set each @ 16 reps)
Biceps: Dumbbell Curls (2 sets @ 16 reps)
Triceps: Dumbbell Triceps Extensions (2 sets @ 16 reps)
Quadriceps: Squats (I'm not sure about this one)
Intense Cardio (Running 6mph @ 10 min)

- you need plenty more cal's
- keep protein high (1 gram per pd of bodyweight)
- you're better off doing a full body program 3/week and then cardio 2/week for now...search the waterbury method by chad waterbury
- do interval cardio on the cardio days
