what to eat

Post by Nubianspirit2 »

Hi everyone. Could anyone suggest what the best thing is to eat before a work out in the morning or a workout in the evening. Also, is it better to workout on a empty stomach in the morning? Oh yes, before i forget..what is a whey protein shake that i keep reading about on here and why is it good for you?

What are you going for...

What are your goals?? Are you trying to gain weight and build muscle, OR are you trying to lose fat and drop weight?

The Whey protein shake is just like it says. Protein, there are two major types of protein. Soy, and Whey. Protein tends to be the #1 advocate when trying to either lose weight or gain muscle.
Whey is a quicker at getting through to your system and is recommended PREworkout. Soy is a slower dissolving protein so it is recommended post workout.

Let me know if this helps... I'm sure I can dig up some articles for more of a precise answer.

Whey would be workable after workouts, because you get a quicker refeed of muscles.

Before workouts, it would mostly provide the body with things like Arginine that boost Bloodflow by helping to create Nitric Oxide, a Vasodilator, that expands blood vessels.

As far as I am aware, Soy digests at about the same rate, (coud be wrong), but Casein is slow digesting at 6-7 hours.

I am looking to lose weight. But still don't understand the protein shake. I probably have to go to the shops and ask. Are the protein shakes like meal replacement shakes?

before training in am - fruit and high fibre cerial if you can stomach it...if not fruit and protein shake...go to the store and ask for the cheapeast powder for the biggest tub regardless of brand name and one that also has less than 5g carbs per 20g serve...don't let them sell you anything else

remember train on an empty stomach...in fact you should never be starving hungry

Food labels list ingredients starting with the largest amount down to the smallest amounts. They also show how much of each nutrient (such as minerals and vitamins) is in each food serving. Calcium, which helps your bones grow strong, is an example of a mineral. Vitamin C, found in orange juice, is an example of a vitamin.Look at the lists of ingredients from cereal cartons, cake-mix boxes, and canned and frozen foods. Many times, sugar or salt is added to food as a flavoring. Sugar is sometimes called corn syrup, sucrose, glucose, or fructose.

Yeah, that's why it's called Vitamin C and not Mineral C
